Dell simplifies the security dilemma with managed solution

Every forward-thinking business prides itself on the ability to reorganize its strategic direction in response to changing industry demands.

Over the past few years, Dell Technologies Inc. has nailed that requirement — and with flying colors.

Customers want outcomes, and services are at the heart of outcomes,” said Patrick Mooney (pictured, right), senior vice president of services product portfolio management at Dell. “So when we look at customers transforming, we’re continually transforming in tandem and modernizing what we do, which is centered around making it easy to buy and consume — and just centered around the customer.”

Mooney and Satish Iyer (pictured, left), VP and general manager of emerging services at Dell, spoke with industry analysts Dave Vellante and Lisa Martin at the Dell Technologies World event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed Dell’s solutions strategy, especially in relation to cloud storage and security. (* Disclosure below.)

Engaging with customers for straight talk

For a company with a strong reputation and discerning customer base, Dell is finding crucial commonalities within different use cases. It is in finding those pain-point similarities that the company conceived its Managed Services solution.

“Obviously, when you look at growth areas and services, it’s absolutely important for us to develop sustainable IP,” Iyer said. “One of the areas where we have invested and we are growing is the cloud Managed Services platform. So Dell is unique in terms of managing our customer services. We actually do full life cycle management of the customers.”

One of the main elements of the life cycle is the company’s cybersecurity-as-a-service offering.

“So we’ve tried to make that very easy for them with our Managed Detection and Response services … bringing the best of the industry and Dell Services together to give them a one-stop-shop managed service,” Mooney explained. “Let us watch for you so that you can run your business. And when we detect something, we’ll advise you and help you respond.”
