Mobile application aims to transform healthcare system
Many companies had to reinvent their business when the pandemic occurred. The healthcare industry was also heavily affected.
Healthcare became a concern for the public, but attaining access was difficult. As a result, companies began digitizing their services to address the needs of their consumers while following social distancing protocols. “Digital front door” is a term that many use to describe the shift from traditional healthcare to a digital interaction.
Bitmarck, a healthcare sector IT partner, rose to the occasion by expanding its established B2B called GesundheitsCockpit. The company introduced an online experience for patients to expand access to health information via a mobile app, including medication services, vaccination status, managing allergies and prescriptions.
“It is about the interaction and that I can see when I put something into my insurance company,” said Sebastian Mass (pictured), senior enterprise architect at Bitmarck.
Mass spoke with theCUBE industry analyst Dave Vellante and Paul Gillin during the recent Red Hat Summit event, an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how the company is using Red Hat Inc. tools to digitize patient experience. (* Disclosure below.)
Red Hat helps Bitmarck bring vision to life
The company leverages Red Hat tools to bring its vision to life. It designed a scalable architecture using Red Hat Integration and Red Hat OpenShift API Management so it can connect with a variety of clients in the public cloud.
“We’re on a scale with so many customers and data centers that we do need support,” Mass explained. For instance, it uses Red Hat’s 3scale API Management to support the functionality its builds for partners and patients.
Creating a cloud-native application allowed the company to scale according to customer demands. Moreover, it was able to connect its on-premises systems to the customer-facing side while maintaining security and regulatory compliance needs with European and German laws, according to Mass.
Different healthcare insurance providers can use Bitmarck’s product and white-label its service to improve patient experiences. Now, patients have quick access to their health information through the application.
