Deloitte, AWS partner to accelerate enterprise cloud journeys with infra-as-code, 24/7 protection

When businesses embark on a journey to the cloud and hybrid cloud solutions, they’re looking for customized, secure managed services that fit their individual needs.

Deloitte & Touche LLP developed a Cyber Cloud Managed Services for Amazon Web Services Inc. to help companies focus on future cloud innovation strategies and positive business outcomes while offering 24/7 security protection, according to Aaron Brown (pictured, left), cloud cyber leader for AWS at Deloitte.

“Those same assets that we use for MSSP, for the right clients and the right engagement, we will work with clients to help them build the capability that they need to run it themselves,” Brown said. “Our solution is built in a way where they can do that.”

Brown and Ryan Orsi (pictured, right), cloud foundation partners leader at AWS, spoke with theCUBE industry analyst Dave Vellante at AWS re:Inforce, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed Deloitte’s approach to cloud managed services, deploying infrastructure as code, the AWS MSSP Competency program and more. (* Disclosure below.)

Leave it to the experts

AWS rolled out a Level 1 MSSP Competency Program, designed to validate and certify partners’ competency in AWS software and services. As part of the MSSP program with AWS, it’s essential for partners such as Deloitte to understand how to fully utilize AWS’ cybersecurity portfolio, according to Orsi.

“There’s a very detailed, very prescriptive technical checklist that our internal security experts are going through with Deloitte folks, for example, as a part of their membership and the Level 1 MSSP program to make sure that those best practices, which could be fresh off the AWS documentation truck, are built into their services,” he said.

Deloitte and AWS’ partnership also enabled their clients to use AWS-native services while still utilizing third-party tools.

“That’s what I feel like the partnership with Deloitte brings to the table for everybody and our mutual customers and builders out there,” Orsi said.  “They don’t run from that complexity or customization — security can be complex.”
