Red Hat and AWS democratize automation and scale in the cloud

Automation is a game-changer when managing, changing and adapting IT infrastructure and business operations.

As a result, the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform on AWS is propelling operational consistency in the cloud, according to Stefanie Chiras (pictured, left), senior vice president for partner ecosystem success at Red Hat Inc., who said that this streamlines and makes the developers’ work seamless.

“One of the things I love about the announcement is it pulls in the other values of Ansible Automation Platform in that simplicity model with things like Certified Collections,” Chiras said. “We have built Certified Collections to go along with this offering, as well as part of the AWS offering that pulls in these other partner engagements together. And as you said, democratizes not only what we’ve done together, but what we’ve done with other partners together.”

Chiras and Manasi Jagannatha (pictured, right), senior business development manager of strategic alliances at Amazon Web Services Inc., spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Lisa Martin and John Furrier at the AnsibleFest event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio.  They discussed the Red Hat-AWS partnership and how the Ansible Automation Platform on AWS seeks to be a game-changer. Billing made easier

The Ansible Automation Platform on AWS offers the benefits of Ansible being natively integrated into AWS billing, which streamlines the purchasing and procurement process.

“Everyone loves the technology of Ansible, but the procurement aspect is also so important,” Chiras pointed out. “And this is where I think this partnership really comes together: Ansible is now natively integrated into AWS billing. Now you have a Red Hat subscription; you get all the benefits from Red Hat that comes along with that subscription.”

Through the Ansible Automation Platform on AWS, TransUnion LLC was able to meet its compliance and flexibility needs. As a result, the consumer credit reporting agency was able to integrate more than 200 services, according to Jagannatha.

“So we have TransUnion … they’re a giant customer,” she said. “They use RHEL; they use AWS services. So while they were transitioning to the cloud, the first thing they wanted to know was compliance, and the other piece was ‘how do we scale without increasing the complexity.’ So what TransUnion did was they basically integrated Ansible Automation Platform with the AWS Cloud Control API that gave them the flexibility.”

The AWS Marketplace is playing a transformative role, Jagannatha pointed out. This, coupled with the power of Ansible, enables businesses to build playbooks.

“Customers come to the Marketplace for three key benefits,” she stated. “One is the consumption-based model, pay as you go; you can get hourly, annual and spot instances. The other piece is the … Enterprise Discount Program. So they want a single bill where they can use third-party services and AWS services, and they don’t have to go through the hustle of saying, ‘Hey, let me combine all these different pieces.’”

Customer centricity is at the heart of the partnership between Red Hat and AWS, according to Chiras. The Ansible Automation Platform on AWS is the next step in the collaboration journey.

“The combination of what Red Hat brings to the table and what AWS brings to the table, that’s what underpins this announcement,” she explained. “We like to talk about multi-partner solutions, and I think this provides a new grounding for other partners to come in and build upon that with their services capabilities, with their other technology capabilities.”
