As ransomware continues to wreak havoc, data protection has emerged as the last line of defense for businesses.
To enhance enterprise data protection across the cloud, on-prem, multicloud and the edge, Veritas Technologies LLC deploys a single-pane-of-glass approach, dubbed Alta View, which is an extension of its cloud-native data management platform Veritas Alta, according to Rick Clark (pictured), senior vice president for cloud sales at Veritas.
“We have a unique advantage of all of the different workload supports that we provide on-prem; we continue that expansion into the cloud,” he said. “So, we create it as part of the Veritas Alta vision, a technology we call Alta View. So, it’s a single pane of glass across both on-prem and cloud for our customers. Now, they can actually see all of their data protection, all their application availability.”
Clark spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Lisa Martin and Paul Gillin at AWS re:Invent, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the importance of data protection and management and how Veritas Alta comes in handy. (* Disclosure below.)
Based on the notion of shared responsibility in the cloud, data resilience and protection are fundamental. Therefore, Veritas ensures application resiliency, according to Clark.
“So, we’ve had a technology — you previously knew it as InfoScale — we now call it Alta Application Resiliency,” he stated. “And it can provide Availability Zone, real-time replication, high availability of your mission-critical applications. So, not only do we do the traditional backups, but we can also provide application resiliency for mission-critical.”
Given that 85% of the Fortune 100 trust the Veritas Alta platform, Clark believes this is based on its three pillars of enhanced workload support, cost optimization and customer experience. Alta also represents a shift from Flex Scale to cloud-native, he added.
“This is a journey that we’ve been on for the better part of seven years,” Clark said. “We actually started it with our Flex Appliances. That was a containerization of our traditional NetBackup business into a highly secured appliance that was loved by our customers.”
