SECURITY

Inside Capgemini’s ‘totality approach’ to managing cloud security

The success or failure of an organization’s security at times boils down to the culture adopted.

Capgemini SE incorporates a totality perspective when approaching security, because cybersecurity is part of its DNA, according to Michael Wasielewski (pictured, left), head of cloud security and next-gen secure architectures at Capgemini, who said this comes in handy when propelling the right application and business outcome.

“We’re not just cloud, not just security, not just AppDev; we can really bring across the totality of the Capgemini estate,” Wasielewski said. “We bring all the perspectives together. How do we align KPIs? Making CISOs’ lives easier is about making sure that the app team’s KPIs are aligned with the CISO’s but also the CISO’s KPIs are aligned with the app team’s.”

Wasielewski and Anne Saunders (pictured, right), director of cybersecurity technology partnerships at Capgemini, spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Lisa Martin and Dave Vellante at the recent AWS re:Invent conference, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Capgemini scrutinizes security from a totality perspective and how its new security solution is proving to be a game-changer. (* Disclosure below.)

Capgemini and cloud security

The company’s new offering provides a low-cost solution for companies that cannot afford to run their own security operations center, according to Wasielewski. This is achieved by taking the cloud security expertise of Trend Micro Inc., the scale and automation capabilities of Amazon Web Services Inc., and the cloud and Security Operations Center services experience of Capgemini, he added.

“We have a new service called the Capgemini Cloud SOC Essentials,” he noted. “We’ve really brought our partners to bear, in this case Trend Micro, really bringing a lot of their intelligence and building off of what they do so that we can help customers.”

Capgemini is driving the next generation of security inside the cloud by treating as an underpinning, which is further driven through the company’s partnerships, according to Saunders.

“The SOC Essentials offering that we’re rolling out is a prime example of that,” she said. “I mean, we work very, very closely with Trend on all fronts with regards to developing it. It’s one of those completely collaborative from day one to going to the customer and that it’s almost that seamless connectivity.”
