Software supply chain management startup Lineaje raises $7M

Software supply chain management startup Lineaje said today it has raised $7 million in new funding to accelerate its go-to-market strategy, invest in continued research and development and expand its headcount.

Tenable Inc. led the seed round with Dreamit Ventures, Veear Capital, Belltower Fund Group and several cybersecurity executives also participating.

Founded in 2021, Lineaje, incorporated as VeeDNA Inc., offers continuous software supply chain security management to companies that build or use software. The company’s service is designed to determine all software components and expose each component’s multilevel dependency chain. Fingerprinting technology within the platform can attest to the authenticity of the entire supply chain, eliminating supply chain compromises, the company says.

Tenable is notable as an investor since Lineaje is one of the first three companies its venture arm has invested in. Tenable Ventures is working with Lineaje to create shareable data models so software supply chain data can create better runtime security that comprehends and secures built-in weaknesses in deployed software.

“Lineaje and Tenable share the same vision – to reduce customers’ exposure to attacks on their digital infrastructure,” Matthew Olton, senior vice president of Tenable, said in a statement. “Lineaje’s ability to detect what’s in your software and assess and mitigate software supply chain risks gives organizations the assurance that the software they deploy to run their business will not be used to harm them.”

Along with the funding, Lineaje also announced the launch of SBOM360, a software supply chain management solution that allows companies to manage their entire software supply chain centrally. Coverage includes any purchased or custom-built software, allowing users to govern software bill of materials or SBOMs at an enterprise-wide level.

Using SBOM360, software producers can create a fully managed and secure software supply chain, as well as publish accurate SBOMs with confidence, Lineaje says. Software consumers, including C-suite executives, can evaluate all their vendors’ SBOMs and deploy third-party software with assurance. All users within a company can search their deployed software in seconds to find newly discovered vulnerabilities, indicators of compromise and deeply embedded components, reducing time to discovery and time to secure.

Within SBOM360, Lineaje has more than 150,000 SBOMs spanning custom applications, open source, packages, commercial off-the-shelf mobile apps and containers, accelerating supply chain management progress for its customers.
