Intelligence-powered technology tackles adversary threats

Security threats are a big concern to many individuals and companies today. Many confuse this as a malware problem when, in actuality, this is an adversary problem. Finding a solution to prevent these attackers is important to protect the integrity of the company and security of clients.

CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. is addressing this concern by offering services that defend attackers.

“All our products are powered by intelligence, because we want to know who the threat actors are and what they’re doing so we can stop them,” said Adam Meyers (pictured), senior vice president of intelligence at CrowdStrike.

Meyers spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Dave Vellante and David Nicholson at last September’s theCUBE @ Fal.Con event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how CrowdStrike shifted from endpoint to platform player. (* Disclosure below.)

Planning for cyberattacks

Meyers explained the role of the eCrime Index, or ECX, in determining if the financial ecosystem is healthy or under pressure from threat actors. The Index typically goes up around holidays, such as Thanksgiving, when there’s more online commerce activity. Then it eventually fluctuates around Christmas when people take time off work, continuing this pattern throughout the year.

“As its fluctuating, it gives us the ability to really start tracking what that economy looks like,” Meyers said.

CrowdStrike continues to monitor the big four threat groups: China, North Korea, Russia and Iran. The longer they observe these groups, the more data they can collect to create preventative solutions, Meyers explained, taking time to understand the motives behind the attacks and use intelligence-powered services to stop them.

The company’s Falcon OverWatch and Falcon Complete are created to defend against vulnerabilities, providing threat hunting and response solution to protect cybersecurity.
