CrowdStrike launches visibility and threat detection for ChromeOS devices
Cybersecurity company CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. today announced the first visibility and threat detection solution for ChromeOS devices that does not require a mobile device management solution.
Announced at the RSA Conference 2023 in San Francisco, CrowdStrike Falcon Insight XDR for ChromeOS delivers endpoint detection and response and extended detection and response capabilities designed to stop adversaries. Developed in conjunction with Google LLC’s ChromeOS team, the service offers native ChromeOS XDR that eliminates visibility gaps with native ChromeOS event telemetry ingested directly from Google LLC with no additional MDM agents needed.
The service includes simplified management in the CrowdStrike Falcon console, delivering broad visibility with ChromeOS devices presented alongside other data sources in a unified console. Support is also provided for accelerated incident triaging and response, allowing users to orchestrate and automate notifications based on contextual insights and detections with CrowdStrike Falcon Fusion, a component of the CrowdStrike Falcon platform.
The expansion into ChromeOS coverage means that CrowdStrike customers using the Falcon platform can now uncover insights into ChromeOS along with Linux, macOS and Windows from one console.
“CrowdStrike collaborated closely with the Google ChromeOS team to provide our joint customers with complete visibility and threat detection for their ChromeOS devices, as part of the CrowdStrike Falcon platform,” Michael Sentonas, president of CrowdStrike, said in a statement. “We developed an elegant, innovative XDR offering for ChromeOS devices that significantly reduces the added drain on resources caused by agent-based MDM solutions.”
The support for ChromeOS within CrowdStrike Falcon will be generally available to all customers by June. The service supports devices running ChromeOS 110 or higher.
Geoff Swaine, global vice president of cloud and tech ecosystems and program strategy at CrowdStrike, spoke with theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media Inc.’s livestreaming studio, on April 13. He discussed how CrowdStrike is enhancing security visibility by consolidating point tools, which feeds into the native ChromeOS XDR.
