OX Security integrates ChatGPT to improve software supply chain security
Developer security operations startup Ox Appsec Security Ltd. today announced the launch of OX-GPT, a ChatGPT integration to improve software supply chain security.
The company says the new integration presents developers with customized fix recommendations and cut-and-paste code fixes, providing for quick remediation of critical security issues across the software supply chain.
Although the rise of OpenAI LP’s ChatGPT has been well-documented, OX argues that it has also become popular with hackers, who have been using generative artificial intelligence models to find and exploit vulnerabilities, develop malware and craft phishing emails. The company claims that AI also holds tremendous potential to protect against cyberattacks.
Added to the mix, OX claims that security teams often need many tools to secure the software supply chain, resulting in too many alerts and fragmented workflows.
“Flooded by alerts, developers often become frustrated and overwhelmed,” co-founder and Chief Executive Neatsun Ziv said in a statement. “After wasting enough time chasing false positives, they lose trust in these tools and no longer see the value in the activities that security asks them to perform. We want to bring that trust back.”
OX-GPT provides developers with context for the specific issues they are facing, such as how hackers could exploit the code in question, the possible impact of such an attack and potential damage to the organization.
The service then provides developers control over security and enables faster and easier remediation with cut-and-paste code crafted to secure and fix the specific issue. The service offers faster and simpler remediation by offering code that includes an explanation of why the fix is effective.
The company claims that developers using the service can dramatically decrease remediation times, enhancing the speed and efficiency of resolving crucial security issues throughout the software supply chain.
OX Security launched out of stealth in September. Ziv was previously a vice president at Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. The company launched with $34 million in seed funding, quite a high figure for such an early-stage round, from investors that include Evolution Equity Partners LLC, Team8 Ventures Ltd., Microsoft Corp.’s M12 and Rain Capital Management LLC.
