Breaking new ground: SecurityScorecard earns AWS Level 1 MSSP Competency

Security rating firm SecurityScorecard Inc. today announced that it has been granted Amazon Web Services Inc. Level 1 Managed Security Service Provider Competency status.

The company is the first software-as-service provider to attain this status in the Business Continuity and Ransomware Readiness specification category and is the third to do so in the Digital Forensics and Incident Response category.

To achieve the status, SecurityScorecard successfully met AWS’ requirements for a baseline of managed security services to protect and monitor essential AWS resources 24/7, called AWS Level 1 MSS baseline. AWS introduced the Level 1 MSS baseline as a quality standard for security services applicable to cloud environments of all sizes, spanning six security domains.

AWS Level 1 MSSP Competency allows customers to gain validated, ongoing security monitoring and management. AWS security experts annually validate the operational processes and tools of each MSSP to address cloud security challenges such as triaging, continuous event monitoring, 24/7 incident response and AWS service configuration best practices.

SecurityScorecard’s platform, which includes Score Guarantee and digital forensics and incident response capabilities, enables customers to make informed risk decisions and maintain business continuity in the face of cyberthreats. The company’s research indicates that organizations rated ‘A’ by SecurityScorecard are 7.7 times less likely to experience a cyber incident than F-rated organizations.

The company also offers customers a continuous incident response team that can provide guidance if a cyber incident occurs, help customers follow established guidelines and regularly works with law enforcement agencies to support any legal proceedings.

“Organizations operating in cloud environments need to safeguard against the escalating threat of ransomware and mitigate risk to ensure the security of their business,” Larry Slusser, vice president and global head of professional services delivery at SecurityScorecard, said ahead of the announcement.

SecurityScorecard is a venture capital-backed startup, having raised $292.2 million to date, according to Crunchbase, including a round of $180 million in March 2021. Investors include Silver Lake Waterman Management Co. LLC., Intel Capital Corp., NGP Capital Management LLX, AXA Venture Partners SA, Google Ventures LLC and Boldstart Ventures LLC.
