Alchemy Insights Inc., a platform that enables developers to write Web3 and blockchain apps, announced Wednesday that it’s launching a suite of new artificial intelligence tools dubbed AlchemyAI to empower developers to get data faster and speed up build time.

The new products Alchemy is launching include an AI-powered assistant for Web3 development called ChatWeb3 and a plugin for OpenAI LP’s ChatGPT capable of accessing blockchain data. The products will be rolling out over the next few weeks.

Web3, also known as the decentralized web, is built on blockchain technology and allows developers to build decentralized platforms and token economies. It enables applications to run without the need for centralized services, and developers rely on the knowledge of numerous protocols and self-executing software known as smart contracts.

ChatWeb3 provides developers with a chatbot powered by ChatGPT that is available within the Alchemy dashboard. According to the company, it’s trained on thousands of pages of Web3 documentation vetted by the company to assist developers with their workflows.

With the AI assistant, developers will be able to pore through documents quickly and get code help by asking questions in natural language, such as requesting code snippets, templates and best practices. It also provides contextual recommendations in order to help developers write cleaner, more efficient code across numerous Web3 development practices – such as using Solidity, an important object-oriented programming language for Web3 apps, notably Ethereum.

Developers can get answers from ChatWeb3 the same way they would talk to another person, such as asking, “Does this smart contract have token transfer fees?” or “Can you help me debug an error in this code?”

The AI-powered assistant does have some limitations, however, as it can only answer questions from the documents it has been trained on and cannot access real-time blockchain data. It will provide answers only about 13 blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Starknet, Polygon and Solana.

The second product is a plugin for ChatGPT, which will be available on OpenAI’s Plugin Marketplace. It will allow anyone to get real-time information on blockchain data conversationally using application programming interfaces through Alchemy.

Although ChatGPT revolutionized the ability to get information about the world and provide answers using prompts, its cutoff date is 2021, which makes it a poor substitute for cutting-edge technologies such as Web3. With the new plugin, users can pull information directly from a number of blockchains in real time.

As a result, users can ask questions or make requests, such as “How much Ethereum is currently in the vitalik.eth address?” or “Get the latest market price for Ethereum” or “What is the average market price for the last 10 Azuki NFTs sold.” All of these questions can be answered by ChatGPT, using the plugin, with real-time blockchain data.

The plugin can pull real-time data for account balances, nonfungible token ownership, Ethereum, transaction details, NFT metadata, blockchain data on mined blocks, and current network conditions.
