Demystifying digital transformation: A deep dive with HPE’s Pradeep Kumar
In the whirlwind world of digital transformation, leaders and businesses find themselves in an incessant dance to the rhythms of rapidly changing technology.
Amid this evolving panorama, seasoned veterans such as Pradeep Kumar (pictured), senior vice president and general manager of HPE Services at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co., become invaluable compasses for navigating this digital maze. As HPE Services undergoes its own metamorphosis, mirroring the shifting landscape of the tech industry, its fresh strategies and innovative models are instructive lessons for enterprises seeking to thrive in the throes of this digital revolution.
“When we talk to customers, I think the way we talk about it and how we advise people is what is the outcome you want to achieve?” Kumar said. “It’s not an accident. This is the outcome you want to achieve. This is the digital transformation path you want to take. And that part will involve the hyperscalers, involve HPE; the solution will involve multiplayers. We involve on-prem and off-prem … and everything in that. We get customers to focus on the outcome rather than how you’re getting that done.”
Kumar spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier and Dave Vellante at HPE Discover, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the rebranding of Pointnext to HPE Services, the company’s focus on sustainability and helping organizations with their digital transformation journey. (* Disclosure below.)
Transforming HP Services in a world of AI and automation
As the global IT landscape evolves, leading technology companies are constantly revising their strategies to accommodate the changing needs of businesses. One such company is HPE, which recently made a significant rebranding move from Pointnext to HPE Services. This change reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to keeping up with technological advancements and helping clients adapt to them.
With the world of IT moving increasingly toward AI and automation, the role of HPE Services has been evolving, according to Kumar.
“If you look at the big announcement of AI for HPC, you saw the big words. It requires training, tuning and inference. That’s all driven by services,” Kumar said. “That’s where we really help customers to get into that mode. And what we did a month ago is rebrand. We had Pointnext services that was at a time when we were divesting out of PCs, our outsourcing business. We really moved away from that and simplified the whole brand for services as HPE Services.”
Services play a crucial role in helping customers realize their transformation journeys, especially in the era of everything as a service. HPE understands the transformation journey and how the company can help customers strategize to transformation, according to Kumar.
Building a sustainable future
Another hot topic on the agenda of IT companies today is sustainability. Here, too, HPE Services has been making strides with its recent announcement of HPE Services for sustainable IT. This step aligns with the global push toward creating a more sustainable IT ecosystem. The company has even made aggressive goals toward achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
The company’s approach toward sustainability isn’t just about reducing power consumption, according to Kumar. It’s about providing a comprehensive solution that takes into account everything from the number of applications a customer uses to where their workloads are located.
By focusing on outcomes rather than processes, HP Services has positioned itself as a forward-thinking leader in the industry, capable of navigating the complex landscape of AI, automation and sustainability, Kumar pointed out.
“Once it’s all implemented, you want two things. How are you going to operate it?” Kumar said. “You need new skills, you need new processes, you need new technology because it’s all digital. And, in the backend, you want to do that monitoring and making sure it’s continuously optimized to your environment.”
