New Baffle Manager automates data protection across an enterprise
Data security platform startup Baffle Inc. today launched an updated version of its platform designed to automate data protection across an enterprise.
Baffle Manager 2.0 seeks to address the issue wherein legacy application-level encryption is difficult and time-consuming to implement. With no code or application changes, Baffle cryptographically protects the data as it’s created, used and shared.
The release features a new user interface and application programming interfaces designed to simplify managing data-centric protection policies across cloud-native stores, legacy and third-party applications, and artificial intelligence projects. The system can be deployed in under 30 minutes and scales automatically with the increasing volume of data and applications without the need for additional operational management from data, security or compliance teams, according to the company.
The new system features a secrets store, certificates store and single sign-on authentication to facilitate deployment and enterprise integration. The product is claimed to deliver full automation of virtually all actions through in-built integrations.
It also enables automation via a REST API for configuration, management and monitoring of the Baffle Data Protection service. The automation includes key management, role-based access control, service configuration and policies for encryption, tokenization and masking.
Baffle Manager 2.0 includes support for multiple regions in Amazon Web Services Inc. and expanded multitenant support for software-as-a-service applications.
“No company can implement or manage critical data protection on an application-by-application basis, especially with the explosion of a new generation of data-intensive AI application workflows,” Chief Executive Ameesh Divatia said ahead of the release. “Baffle Manager 2.0 makes enterprise-wide scaling and ongoing management even more automated with a single, redesigned UI that streamlines every aspect of data-centric protection across the ever-changing application landscape.”
Baffle is a venture capital-backed startup, having raised $36.5 million in funding, according to Crunchbase. Investors include Alumni Ventures LLC, National Grid Partners LLC, Lytical Venture LLC, Celesta Global Capital Managers LLC and Nepenthe Capital.
Divatia spoke with the theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media Inc.’s live stream studio, in July 2022, when he discussed how the company uses proxy architecture to propel data as the next security frontier:
