Dell announces new advisory services for Microsoft customers

Dell Technologies Inc. announced today it’s launching a portfolio of new services specifically for Microsoft Corp. technology customers.

The services cover areas such as multicloud, modern workforces, applications and data, and resiliency and security. They’re aimed at helping customers extract more value out of their Microsoft technology investments and enhance innovation.

In a blog post, Dell explained that the new offerings are designed to address a number of problems hampering innovation at enterprises. It cites a recent study by Forrester Consulting earlier this year that found 75% of information technology decision makers require external expertise to achieve specific outcomes. The same study also revealed that 69% of IT decision makers lack the resources and expertise needed to realize the full value of their tech investments.

To address these challenges, Dell is launching new multicloud services to help businesses take full advantage of the Microsoft Azure cloud. The services are said to cover running container workloads natively in Azure, using Azure Stack hyperconverged infrastructure for hybrid, multicloud and edge use cases, and expanding VMware on Azure.

Meanwhile, Dell’s new modern workforce advisory services will help businesses to create more personalized and secure environments for hybrid and remote workers. The services cover Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365, and provide versatile, low-cost access to Dell’s experts.

In terms of applications and data, Dell said it’s offering new implementation services that will enable customers to modernize critical apps for Azure. In addition, it can help customers to take better advantage of artificial intelligence-powered data analytics and cloud databases, and deliver more reliable and secure applications. For instance, Dell’s new DevSecOps implementation service on Azure is able to embed enterprise-grade security features from Azure and GitHub within customer’s DevOps pipelines.

Finally, Dell said it will offer new backup and recovery services for Azure to enhance customer’s resiliency and ensure their ability to restore any data in the event of cyberattacks, corruption or accidental deletion. The company cites the unique capabilities of its incident response team, which has a 97% success rate when it comes to helping customers recover from cyberattacks.

“Dell is continuing its long tradition of providing additional value to customers through its partnership with Microsoft,” said Holger Mueller of Constellation Research Inc. “It’s helping customers to get more out of their multicloud, resilience and future-of-work investments. Customer adoption will soon tell us how well Dell has hit the nerve in terms of the value proposition of these services.”

Dell said the new services build on a successful partnership with Microsoft across infrastructure, software, security, advisory and digital experience that dates back more than 35 years.
