Lineaje unveils ‘BomBots’ to simplify software maintenance and security
Software supply chain management startup Lineaje Inc. today introduced “BomBots,” artificial intelligence-based automation bots designed to address critical software maintenance and security concerns.
BomBots leverage Linaje AI to create “intelligent recommendations” that enable developers and security analysts to make better decisions that result in more secure and efficient software. With the recommendations, software producers can reduce the effort spent on software maintenance by up to 40% and cut software upgrade costs by the same amount, the company says.
The BomBots generative AI tool acts like a copilot that enhances a user’s ability to find, understand and mitigate specific software security and maintenance issues through specialized, comprehensive analysis by Lineaje AI. Integrated with their software bill of materials, users of the intelligent chatbot feature can engage via a humanlike conversation for a comprehensive resolution of complex issues. The resolutions are adapted to specific situations and requirements, allowing software maintainers and security professionals to mitigate software issues more efficiently.
Lineaje argues that with open-source and third-party software constituting about 70% of each dependency, BomBots deliver an industry-first approach to workflows, encompassing discovery, recommendations and remediation throughout the entire depth of an SBOM, according to the company.
Key components of BomBots are targeted at solving common yet critical problems. The Vulnerability BomBot prioritizes vulnerabilities and directs remediation to the right developer and is claimed to result in better software and up to 20% savings in terms of the effort required.
The Compatibility BomBot examines components across versions and recommends optimized combinations that cooperate, enabling organizations to eliminate as much as 25% of the previous effort requirement. The last BomBot, the Maintainability BomBot, monitors and replaces no longer maintained dependencies, keeping products secure and vulnerability-free.
“Lineaje AI is leveraging SBOM data to directly optimize software maintenance and security,” co-founder and Chief Executive Javed Hasan said ahead of the release. “Our BomBots offering will allow organizations to move beyond compliance for their own software development to securing their software supply chains.”
Along with the launch of BomBots, Lineaje AI has also updated its flagship products, SBOM360 and SBOM360 Hub. New features include a Supply Chain Learnbot, an InsightBot and a Classical Automation Bot. The new features focus on self-education, query resolution about data and auto-creation of detailed remediation instructions and code.
Linaje was last in the news in February when it raised $7 million in new funding to accelerate its go-to-market strategy, invest in continued research and development and expand its headcount. Investors in the company include Tenable Inc., Dreamit Ventures Inc., Veear Capital LLC and Belltower Fund Group L.P.
