Inside Google’s Duet AI: The evolution of workspace productivity

Google LLC continues to shape the landscape of productivity and collaboration with its innovative offerings, with Duet AI being the latest offering that is helping to redefine the way companies work and collaborate.

As a part the Google Workspace, Duet AI is a powerful collaboration tool that helps with productivity levels and frees up users to do other, less mundane tasks. The latest in a long line of large language models, Duet AI goes a step further than other LLMs by seamlessly integrating with Google applications, such as Gmail and Meet.

“I am so excited about the innovation that we’re delivering with inside Google Workspace,” said Kristina Behr (pictured), vice president of product for Google Workspace Collab at Google. “Everything from help me write in Gmail in Docs, image generation inside of Slides so that you can tell a compelling story and then ways of creating new tables and project management with inside of Sheets.”

Behr spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier and Rob Strechay at the Google Cloud Next event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the intricacies of Duet AI and its role in revolutionizing productivity within the Google Workspace suite. (* Disclosure below.)

Bringing innovation to the forefront of collaboration apps

The introduction of Duet AI in a new side panel across Workspace apps marks a milestone. The power of Duet AI lies not just in its presence, but in its understanding, according to Behr.

One such example is Duet AI’s role in transforming meetings. By taking notes for groups and allowing users to join voice or video conversations spontaneously, Duet AI contributes to a more efficient and productive collaborative environment.

“The real magic and the power is if it understands you — it understands your email, it understands all the files and your drive corpus,” Behr said. “Some of the examples could be, ‘Hey, update me on Q3 performance,’ and it would understand all of your emails, all the files that you have been provisioned to and kind of create that summary.”
