Inside signals on Duet AI’s potential to transform intelligent business apps
As the data landscape exploded, artificial intelligence followed suit and is seeing expansive innovation.
The next frontier is the transformation of enterprise applications by making AI invaluable to developers — and Google LLC is betting big on Duet AI’s new capabilities to deliver in that regard.
“From the inside of Google, we feel very confident about our ability to leverage this technology and deliver a pace of value for customers,” said Gabe Monroy (pictured), vice president of developer experience for Google Cloud at Google. “That is going to be a little different than we’ve seen in the past. The speed and intensity are going to pick up quite a bit in terms of the news itself. We did announce an expanded preview for Duet AI and Google Cloud, which is super exciting.”
Monroy spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier and Dustin Kirkland at the Google Cloud Next event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the additions coming to Google Cloud and Duet AI. (* Disclosure below.)
Poring over the details
Duet AI is essentially Google’s offering for enterprise AI assistance through the Workplace. Many of the added capabilities focus on the developer experience, one of which is source citation, according to Monroy.
“New things like source citation — if you’re getting a response from an LLM in your IDE, if you’re quoting at length from a particular source, you want to know that that came from Stack Overflow, or that is licensed under a particular open source license, permissive or not,” he explained. “You want to know that stuff. Lots of cool features like that [are what] we’re delivering now.”
There’s also an expanded preview for Duet AI now available on the Google Cloud dashboard, Monroy added.
“Duet is showing up in Workspace, which is really around productivity that is now generally available — and the pricing’s available, et cetera,” he noted. “For Google Cloud, we’re announcing an expanded preview of this.”
