Glean partners with DoiT to tame cloud costs and complexity for enhanced AI capabilities
Even though the public cloud is crucial for a sound IT strategy, runaway costs and complexity continue to be huge impediments.
By leveraging DoiT International Ltd.’s intelligent technology to manage cloud costs, Glean Technologies Inc. is able to optimally focus on its primary objective of enhancing enterprise search and knowledge discovery using artificial intelligence, which entails creating a company’s search index that is permission aware, according to Dan Fergusson (pictured, left), director of strategic partnerships at Glean.
“Glean’s an AI-powered workplace search application, and simply we help people find what they need across the workplace with all the different applications,” Fergusson said “We’ve been really great to work with DoiT to help us build up our posture around security and our posture around the cloud. DoiT as an expert in the cloud space that can help us skill up has just been super valuable and has definitely helped us to accelerate as we built everything on Google.”
Fergusson and John Purcell (right), chief product officer of DoiT, spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Lisa Martin and Dustin Kirkland at the Google Cloud Next event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Glean tackles cloud challenges for optimal AI capabilities and how DoiT and Google Cloud come in handy. (* Disclosure below.)
How Google Cloud fits into the picture
Since Glean uses significant compute, it leverages Google Cloud for enhanced productivity. For instance, the company uses Vertex AI for fast and scalable solutions, such as utilizing knowledge graphs to build generative AI models, Fergusson pointed out.
“I think we use just about the entire Google Cloud stack,” he explained. “Things from the data flow to Cloud SQL. Most recently we’ve started to invest in building Vertex AI and the [Patheway Language Models] into our product.”
Even though the cloud offers a competitive edge, agility and speed, companies usually underestimate the complexity associated with building or moving to the cloud. As a result, DoiT comes in handy through expertise consultancy for optimal economic value, according to Purcell.
“You encounter hard problems and if you don’t pay attention to those very quickly, things like cost … you find yourself in an operational spot of bother, which is really why DoiT exists as a company,” he noted. “Focus on delivering the advantages they aim to achieve in the cloud and then help them with an integration of human-based advisory and consultancy services, coupled with advanced technology … which is how we came first to meet Glean.”
