JetBrains now offers a dedicated integrated development environment for Rust
Professional software development tools company JetBrains s.r.o today announced the launch of RustRover, an integrated development environment or IDE dedicated to the Rust programming language.
Rust, which emphasizes performance, type safety and concurrency, has seen extensive adoption and increasing popularity in recent years because it offers advantages for software engineers, business leaders and governments. JetBrains notes, however, that challenges arise as a result of its complexities and steep learning curve.
RustRover has been designed to address issues with Rust by simplifying the coding experience to allow developers to unlock the language’s full potential. Through an array of features tailored specifically to Rust, RustRover enables programmers to concentrate on their strengths and alleviate the complexities associated with the language.
The new service offers real-time feedback, intelligent code suggestions, simplified toolchain management and team collaboration, all designed to enhance the Rust programming experience for all proficiency levels, according to the company.
Key features include on-the-fly analysis that allows developers to benefit from rapid error detection and real-time feedback for efficient debugging. RustRover has been designed to be easily set up to allow developers to start coding immediately without needing to install additional plugins or configure the IDE from scratch.
Permissive completion and parsing in RustRover deliver smart code suggestions to developers, even in unconventional contexts. Advanced unit testing integration allows developers to effortlessly conduct seamless testing, gain comprehensive code insight and allows users to understand the code and its structure and access code examples for enhanced development.
Other features include extensive Rust toolchain support, full version control system integration and support for frontend technologies and databases.
“With RustRover, we are addressing the evolving needs of developers in a market that is rapidly developing, witnessing a surge in the Rust ecosystem: 56% of developers we surveyed have started adopting Rust in the last six months,” said RustRover developer advocate Vitaly Bragilevsky. “By combining advanced coding support and integrated toolchain capabilities, our IDE enables developers to navigate this growing landscape more efficiently and contribute to the thriving Rust community.”
