Inside Charlotte AI’s monetization strategy: theCUBE analysts weigh in

In the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity, a new star has emerged, and its name is Charlotte AI, a technology that can transform text into the spoken word with the flair of a “Star Trek” episode.

This artificial intelligence innovation was unveiled by CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. at this week’s Fal.Con event.

“CrowdStrike announced Charlotte AI last August, at Black Hat,” said Dave Vellante (pictured, left), theCUBE industry analysts. “We saw the demo on stage today … and I think they structured it in a way that looked really slick.”

Vellante spoke with fellow analyst Lisa Martin (right) at the Fal.Con event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the potential, intrigue and future of Charlotte AI in the realm of cybersecurity and beyond. (* Disclosure below.)

Charlotte AI: A star-studded introduction

Charlotte AI has already generated significant excitement in the tech world. At Fal.Con 23, it made a grand entrance with a captivating demo that included a text-to-voice translation, complete with a Star Trek-themed presentation. The demonstration left a lasting impression, showcasing the potential of this AI technology.

But what truly excited the tech enthusiasts and experts alike were the possibilities that Charlotte AI bring to the table. Its applications in the field of cybersecurity and beyond hold immense promise, according to Vellante. It’s no wonder that many eagerly anticipated more details about this groundbreaking technology.

“I think that at the end of the day, they’re going to use this as a learning experience, number one, and then turn it into monetization,” he said. “When is gen AI going to actually gen revenue? And I think the answer is stay tuned.”

Deciphering the monetization puzzle

While the introduction of Charlotte AI was met with enthusiasm, there was one critical aspect that left attendees pondering – its pricing and monetization strategy. George Kurtz, CEO of CrowdStrike, had hinted at revealing pricing details during the event. However, the actual announcement fell short, with Kurtz urging interested parties to “call for pricing” and contact their local sales representatives, according to Vellante.

This ambiguity led to speculation about how CrowdStrike plans to monetize Charlotte AI. CrowdStrike might adopt a per-endpoint pricing structure. The pricing strategy, outlined by Vellante, aligns with CrowdStrike’s reputation as a value-driven cybersecurity platform, offering more comprehensive solutions compared to its competitors.

“We’re calling this connecting the dots on Charlotte AI monetization and pricing,” he added. “It’s going to be more expensive than other platforms that are just point products, because you get a lot more in the platform. I think they’re going to make it really easy to get in.”

By offering a low-entry price and allowing users to purchase additional credits, CrowdStrike aims to cater to a wide range of customers. This strategy aligns with the company’s goal of not only introducing Charlotte AI, but also ensuring it becomes a valuable and integral part of its product lineup.

“I think it’s got to be a very low cost to get people in,” Vellante added. “Then I think it’s definitely going to be some kind of consumption model, because using LLMs … we know this from the CUBE AI, it’s expensive. I’m sure they’re testing them all, and they’re going to market with some combination.”
