Salesforce Inc. places an emphasis on a shared security model when it comes to cloud security. The company, along with its users, have clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
This approach led cybersecurity company CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. to award Salesforce with its “Protector of the Year” award during this week’s Fal.Con event. Salesforce will continue to invest heavily in the security of its platform, according to Kelly McCracken (pictured), senior vice president of detection and response at Salesforce.
“What Salesforce likes to do is make sure that we are providing our customers all the knowledge and making it as easy as possible to make sure that they’re configuring their side of this, their Salesforce product,” McCracken said. “The other thing is making sure that you are partnering with everyone in the industry, because this is important. Years ago, we didn’t always partner as well as we do today.”
McCracken spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Lisa Martin and Dave Vellante at the Fal.Con event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed customer trust and security measures, leveraging artificial intelligence, and partnerships with vendors to defend against threats and protect data. (* Disclosure below.)
AI is now being strategically employed by organizations to address user issues and enhance response time. However, there is a worry that the continuous advancement of technologies will provide adversaries with an upper hand, leading to an ongoing game of cat and mouse, according to McCracken.
Salesforce is placing a priority on safeguarding data by acquiring companies and developing strategies to identify and address risks. This translates into an approach where the company is protecting both the software-as-a-service providers and themselves.
“I talked about my AI strategy at the beginning that I’m working with on my team, and I don’t want to recreate the wheel. Salesforce has done a lot with AI,” McCracken said. “Salesforce has unique challenges, and I want to use my resources to focus on the unique challenges of Salesforce and use my vendors to focus on the challenges that we all have across the industry.”
