Unlocking employment with AI: Kelly Services partners with UiPath to lighten recruiters’ burdens
In the wake of the “Great Resignation,” a term used to describe the wave of resignations that followed the COVID pandemic, companies are struggling to find new talent.
UiPath Inc. is partnering with the consulting service Kelly Services Inc. to better meet the needs of employers and employees by providing automation and artificial intelligence technology.
“The traditional ways of finding talent, hiring talent, retaining talent aren’t really working,” said Brigette McInnis-Day (pictured, left), chief people officer of UiPath. “And that’s what UiPath has to offer … we need to be role models in the HR space for automation.”
McInnis-Day and Amy Bouque (right), chief people officer of Kelly Services, spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Rebecca Knight and Dave Vellante at the UiPath FORWARD event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the impact of AI on the hiring process and how companies are evolving to draw new talent. (* Disclosure below.)
Finding “untapped potential” in hiring practices
One of the primary goals with automation and AI is replacing mundane, busy work with what McInnis-Day calls “value-added work.”
“We have all of this automation opportunity in our ongoing everyday transactions, whether or not it’s compensation, move moves, benefit administration, there’s so much to be done that allows people to work into their full potential,” said Bouque, who emphasized the need for citizen developers to manage these changes. “We keep people at the center.”
Both Bouque and McInnis-Day see AI and automation as a path toward widening access to job opportunities.
“With the increase in AI and automation, the jobs actually have increased. It’s the shape of what they are and which jobs and how are those things changing,” said McInnis-Day. Data gained from AI technology can help employers improve diversity and transparency in their hiring practices, according to McInnis-Day.
According to Bouque and McInnis-Day, a wide array of changes could be on the horizon for employers.
“There is just this untapped potential within the function of HR,” Bouque said. “We can really be cutting edge, delivering value to the business and helping our businesses just absolutely succeed.”
