Cloud detection and response company Skyhawk Security (CNP) Ltd. today announced a new artificial intelligence-based autonomous purple team for continuous proactive protection.
Announced at the annual AWS re:Invent 2023 conference, Skyhawk’s new Continuous Proactive Protection product uses AI as an autonomous purple team to continually analyze customer data. A purple team in cybersecurity is a collaborative approach where a red team (offensive) and blue team (defensive) work together to test and improve security measures within an organization. In the case of the new offering, AI takes the purple team role.
Continuous Proactive Protection works by running an AI-based red team against an AI-based blue team to look for paths of least resistance and to simulate attacks against users. The results are then used to improve security and protect an organization’s cloud infrastructure.
The autonomous purple team discovers the environment inventory and continuously identifies critical assets, analyzing the least resistance paths to the organization’s most important assets. Simulated attackers determine the attack recipes against high-priority targets, with the AI evaluating defenses to understand how they detect and respond to threats so as to identify gaps in security strategy. The service uses the Skyhawk Synthesis AI platform to deliver results such as automated responses and remediation recommendations.
With the new service, Skyhawk says, enterprise security leaders will fully understand the real risks of their cloud infrastructure, understand the highest priority security gaps and are able to proactively prepare for the top business risks to prevent cloud breaches.
The new capability further extends Skyhawk’s technology in applying AI to cloud security. Announced earlier this year, the Skyhawk Synthesis Security Platform provides that the company says is unique cloud threat detection and response capabilities across multi-cloud environments. The company also offers AI-powered “shift-left” CDR technology.
“In the past 15 years, cloud security was like driving your car while looking at the rear-view mirror rather than looking ahead,” said Chief Executive Chen Burshan. “What we announce today is a paradigm shift… the first continuous proactive cloud security, delivered by extending our field-proven CDR platform to use an AI-driven, adaptive security with self-learning capabilities.”
Skyhawk Security is a venture capital-backed startup, having raised $35 million in funding, according to Startup National Central. Investors include Tiger Global Management LLC.
