Zerocopter’s hacker network drives new SaaS marketplace for improved cyber defense

Hacker-powered cybersecurity solutions provider Zerocopter today launched a new marketplace that enables companies to expose vulnerabilities and detect threats more efficiently and affordably.

Supported by Zerocopter’s hundreds-strong hacker network, the new marketplace is tailored to businesses of any size and offers a new way of accessing security packages through its software-as-a-service marketplace without requiring lengthy contracts. Whatever service is required, a company picks it off the shelf and implements it at leisure. The company claims this approach reinvents security provision by fashioning readily available, affordable, tailor-made offerings to companies of all types.

The marketplace has been designed to address issues wherein many businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises with smaller budgets, lack the ability to combat security risks as a time when cybercrime is surging. Added into the mix is the growing shortage of cybersecurity professionals, meaning it’s becoming harder and more costly to hire talent.

Zerocopter’s new solution is aimed at addressing the gap by harnessing the power of hackers themselves. The marketplace of security products is backed by the combined intelligence of hackers who the company says are “laser-sharp” in vulnerability detection, adding a new dimension to the field of threat prevention and ensuring security-conscious companies remain one step ahead.

“To fully appreciate the extent of the digital attack surface and level of potential threats, companies need to go beyond the tick-box cybersecurity approach,” said Chief Executive Erik Ploegmakers. “Zerocopter’s custom-made marketplace is driven by hackers who can find flaws and security breaches that no generic tool would be able to. Whatever the customer requirements are, we carefully match them with one of our world-class, vetted hackers with the appropriate skill set for that particular case.”

The use of hackers in Zerocopter’s offering may raise eyebrows among some. Zerocopter says with each hacker undergoes a rigorous vetting process ensuring that they comply with a strict code of conduct and are the best at what they do.

As part of its capabilities, Zerocopter assesses and validates all vulnerability reports to enable organizations to focus on what matters – fixing security issues quickly. The company also offers a Bug Bounty program, which incentivizes hackers based on the threat level found, allowing for continuous surveillance regardless of how fast software is released.

For companies requiring further assistance, Zerocopter offers what it calls “Dedicated Hacker Time,” a microconsulting solution with a global hacker force, where companies are matched with the hackers who have the skills and knowledge the specific task and scope requires. Hackers are hired by the hour, meaning customers only pay what they need them for, making resolutions much more cost-effective.
