Chertoff Group affiliate MC² Security Fund acquires cybersecurity company Trustwave
The MC² Security Fund, an affiliate of investment firm The Chertoff Group LLC, has acquired cybersecurity company Trustwave Holdings Inc. for an undisclosed price.
Founded in 1995 and owned by Singapore telecommunications giant Singtel Holdings Ltd. following a $810 million acquisition in 2015, Trustwave offers a suite of cybersecurity services, including managed detection and response, managed security services, cyber advisory, penetration testing, database security and email security.
The company also has a team of researchers under the SpiderLabs brand undertaking threat research and intelligence. The intelligence gathered is infused into Trustwave services and products to fortify cyber resilience in the age of inevitable cyberattacks.
The combination of SpiderLabs researchers and Trustwave’s Fusion Security Operations platform enables it to meet the strenuous security needs of global enterprises. The company claims it is positioned to respond better and faster to a wider and more comprehensive array of potential threats and attacks in clients’ environments, allowing teams to make more informed decisions sooner to contain threats and protect their organizations.
MC² and the Chertoff group plan to continue running Trustwave as a standalone business but will combine Trustwave’s cybersecurity portfolio with its proven track record of driving security outcomes and building value in the industry.
“Alongside MC², The Chertoff Group and their tremendous expertise, we are positioned to further extend the global reach of our comprehensive offensive and defensive cybersecurity portfolio, providing organizations with unmatched protection and strategic guidance,” Trustwave Chief Executive Officer Eric Harmon said in a statement.
The MC² Security Fund is a growth equity fund founded by the executive leadership team of The Chertoff Group. MC² makes private equity investments in high-growth companies supporting enduring, mission-critical security requirements within the security and risk management industry. The fund invests in sectors including cybersecurity, defense technology, government services and homeland security.
