Badge’s new solution offers advanced biometric authentication without privacy risks
Privacy company Badge Inc. today announced the availability of a new authentication technology and a partnership with Auth0 that will allow customers to integrate Badge’s novel privacy solutions to enable multifactor authentication experiences across all channels.
Badge claims the new authentication technology renders personally identifiable information and biometric credential storage obsolete and eliminates passwords, device redirects and knowledge-based authentication with “enroll once and authenticate on any device” ease. The technology has “no stored secrets anywhere,” with users enrolling once and then being seamlessly authenticated across any device using authentication factors that are unique and inherent to them, such as a fingerprint or face.
With the technology, users do not need to register on a new device before authenticating. The biometric factors can be combined with other factors like passive attributes or PINs to create a solid and convenient multifactor authentication method that doesn’t rely on a device or token to authenticate users. With Badge’s technology, users can move freely across devices and platforms without losing access to their accounts or compromising security.
“When we founded Badge, our mission was to solve one of the hardest problems in authentication by moving the trust anchor for digital identities to the human instead of a hardware device or personally identifiable information,” said co-founder Tina Srivastava. “After losing my own identity in a breach, we went back to the fundamentals. We relied on math to solve the problem and used cryptography to build a user-centric solution that makes people their own roots of trust rather than their device or token. With Badge, you are your token.”
Along with making the new technology generally available, Badge also today announced the availability of its privacy-preserving authentication solution on Auth0 Marketplace, a catalog of trusted technology integrations to extend the functionality of Okta Customer Identity Cloud powered by Auth0.
The Badge integration allows Auth0 customers to enroll once and authenticate on any device with their preferred biometrics and factors for a safe and holistic user experience. The ability enables seamless cross-platform device authentication without passwords or stored secrets.
The integration is designed to complement Auth0’s extensible identity and the ease in which customers can seamlessly integrate adjacent technologies to facilitate the successful execution of larger projects such as digital transformation, threat detection, compliance and customer conversion. Auth0 customers can now integrate Badge into their Identity and Access Management workflows through simple, code-free configuration options.
