Swimlane enhances Turbine platform with AI-driven security automation features

Low-code security automation company Swimlane LLC today announced new features in its Turbine platform that bring generative artificial intelligence and automation together to solve security problems in an organization.

The new features, Canvas and Hero AI, have been designed to empower security teams to build automation in seconds with limitless integration possibilities, leading to dramatic time and resource savings, according to the company, which says the approach delivers a robust set of capabilities to analyze and take action on telemetry across the entire security organization.

Swimlane argues that SecOps teams are drowning in a sea of alerts and evolving threats while facing a chronic shortage of qualified staff. The critical gap is claimed to leave organizations dangerously exposed as adversaries evolve their tactics and accelerate their attacks.

Recognizing the urgent need, Swimlane has enhanced the Turbine low-code automation platform with advancements that strengthen security teams by connecting them, their telemetry and technology through a human-centric AI and automation building experience.

The first release, Canvas, democratizes automation by leveraging modular and reusable programming components to empower users to build playbooks with an intuitive and simple visual interface. Using Turbine Canvas, SecOps teams can craft automation workflows with the ease of drawing a flowchart and gain visibility into how all playbooks connect, edit them in one spot, and leverage multiple triggers per playbook for enhanced control and flexibility.

The second release, Hero AI, offers AI-enabled innovations that enhance the automation solutions available within the Swimlane Turbine platform. A combination of human and machine intelligence optimizes SecOps workflows and maximizes return on investment, helping analysts work faster and more effectively.

Hero AI innovations include enhancements to security operations, prioritizing data privacy and user control. Private Large Language Models address customer concerns about sharing sensitive information with public LLMs, ensuring private and secure AI augmentation of Turbine solutions. Hero AI’s Crafted AI Prompts offer flexibility in leveraging various language models, including Swimlane’s own LLM, allowing users to integrate generative AI seamlessly into their security workflows.

A feature known as AI Case Summarization uses Swimlane’s LLM for efficient categorization and prioritization of issues, transforming SecOps teams’ approach to case management by aiding in remediation and explaining complex case details.

The enhancements also include tools such as the Text-to-Code ChatBot and the HelpDocs ChatBot, both powered by AI for enhanced operational efficiency.

The Text-to-Code ChatBot, integrated with OpenAI LP, generates complex scripts and Python outputs for building advanced logic playbooks rapidly within Turbine Canvas for both low-code users and power users in real-time operations. The HelpDocs ChatBot, trained on Turbine Platform documentation, provides instant technical support directly within the platform, addressing queries such as editing actions in Canvas.

Additionally, Turbine’s Schema Inference feature simplifies the handling of dynamic data sets, allowing easy and instant data mapping across use cases with minimal user effort, thereby enabling the creation of efficient and robust playbooks.

“Automation remains the most critical investment any security organization can make and our team is squarely focused on driving innovation that sets a new standard for security operations efficacy,” Swimlane Chief Executive James Brear said ahead of the announcement. “It’s that unwavering dedication that has led us to invest in cutting-edge AI technology, enabling customers to not only ensure the most effective defense but to save wasted time and money.”
