New partnership between Cequence Security and Vercara aims to bolster API security

Application programming interface security startup Cequence Security Inc. today announced a new partnership with cloud-based security platform provider Vercara LLC to bolster application programming interface security.

The partnership seeks to fortify the cybersecurity landscape by pairing Vercara’s network and application protections with Cequence Security’s Unified API Protection platform. The collaboration addresses ever-evolving digital threats, especially those targeting APIs.

APIs have become the core of many online services and applications by facilitating communication between different software components. This makes them essential but also a potential target for cyber-attacks. The partnership between Cequence Security and Vercara aims to address the risks involved.

Cequence brings to the party a platform designed to provide a holistic approach to API security. The platform includes features for discovering external and internal APIs, ensuring these are compliant with the best security practices and governance standards. The platform also offers advanced, real-time protection against various API attacks, preventing them from reaching and compromising applications.

Vercara’s cloud-based security services safeguard online experiences, providing layers of protection against various threats. The integration of the capabilities with Cequence Security’s platform is expected to create a more robust, end-to-end security solution that can effectively counter the sophisticated cyber threats of today.

“The absence of API protection puts you at risk of potential theft, fraud, non-compliance and business disruptions,” said Carlos Morales, senior vice president of solutions at Vercara. “Our partnership with Cequence combines our collective best-in-class services to address the evolving demands of the cybersecurity landscape, ensuring that businesses can confidently deploy needed applications and successfully navigate the complexities of API security with advanced, holistic protection.”

Arun Gowda, vice president of business development at Cequence Security, said the integration of the company’s API security solutions with Vercara’s Web Application Firewall and Distributed Denial-of-Serivce tools will deliver an “advanced, holistic API protection.”

Cequence Security is a venture capital-backed company, having last raised funding from Hewlett-Packard Pathfinder LP and Prosperity7 Ventures LLC in April. The amount of funding was not disclosed at the time, but Cequence had previously raised more than $100 million.
