Opaque Systems announces new product for enhanced AI deployment security

Secure data analytics startup Opaque Systems Inc. today announced early access to a new software solution that addresses data privacy, security and sovereignty concerns in enterprise generative artificial intelligence deployments.

Called Opaque Gateway, the new service seeks to address the issue wherein enterprises are grappling with generative AI deployments amid a rapidly evolving regulatory and security environment. The company says the new service breaks down the barriers to AI adoption through a new approach to deploying large language models that removes the most common obstacles — data privacy, security and sovereignty — with a verifiable audit trail and hardware root of trust.

“Opaque Gateway allows the enterprise to control data privacy, security and sovereignty while also providing the flexibility to adapt GenAI implementations as the model landscape continues to evolve – this is helping companies to get into production faster,” said Chief Executive Aaron Fulkerson.

The new service offers confidential computing at its core, with all data remaining encrypted in use, not just in storage and transit, to ensure the highest level of confidentiality. A complete audit log is also produced with a hardware root of trust verifying data privacy, security and sovereignty.

The Opaque Gateway platform is designed not to compromise on speed, efficiency or flexibility. The service ensures that AI projects are unblocked with zero switching costs, negligible performance hit and increased flexibility of deployment, the company claims. It says early testing among Opaque customers has seen results of up to five times faster first value and a 27% reduction in costs.

Other features included streamlined AI deployment, with a seamless transition from pilot to production with reduced time and cost, accelerating the path to realizing AI benefits. Cryptographically secure data processing ensures data remains encrypted throughout processing, allowing businesses to deliver advanced logic between user prompts and LLM responses like configurable privacy controls, monitoring, reporting, analysis, customer logic pre- and post-LLM processing and prompt compression.
