KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe in Paris is taking place as everything in the city is seeing a springtime bloom, including Kubernetes. It’s why some said during the event that Kubernetes having its Linux moment.
Thursday was a busy day at KubeCon. However, it was a great opportunity to see virtual machines on Kubernetes, according to theCUBE Research principal analyst Rob Strechay (pictured, right).
“It’s coming together in harmony with containers. And I think that it makes too much sense for that to not happen over time, where things come together,” Strechay said. “Especially where certain things are just going to live better in a VM than they are in a container, if they have not been written for a container.”
Strechay was joined by co-hosts Savannah Peterson (center) and Dustin Kirkland (left), on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s roving news desk. They discussed the latest trends in cloud-native technology and the community spirit at KubeCon EU 2024. (* Disclosure below.)
While security wasn’t much of a subject on Wednesday, that changed on Thursday, according to Kirkland. There was discussion around the subject that will carry into CloudNativeSecurityCon in June.
The day also brought some great guests to theCUBE, including several from Red Hat Inc., the Cloud Native Security Foundation and Docker Inc. One of the other things that struck Peterson was the sense of community at the event.
“It feels so inclusive. I mean, even at dinner last night, we were chatting how CNCF wouldn’t go to a city where diversity wasn’t celebrated,” Peterson said. “This whole fam is very much inclusive and here to help people learn and teach them things, and also show some pretty great swag.”
As per tradition, Peterson showed off some of the swag she’s been able to score on the show floor, from unique T-shirts and buttons to a wine holder.
“This community loves their swag, loves their stickers. We’ve had some deliveries,” she said. “I even had some swag mailed to me in advance of the show.”
