E-commerce innovation: Evolving trust to streamline check-out experiences

In today’s digital age, every activity is instantaneous. Shopping epitomizes that fact, as products swiftly ship to buyers around the world at the click of a button.

In a world where every click counts and every transaction is a potential opportunity, trust reigns supreme. How are companies leveraging existing e-commerce expertise to reinforce trust in their customers for sustained loyalty?

“The idea of Fastlane is to take those customers that are not willing to register and make it a one-click payment,” said Frank Keller (pictured), executive vice president and general manager of the Large Enterprise & Merchant Platforms Group at PayPal Holdings Inc. “How does that work? It works the first time on any merchant that participates in the Fastlane network that goes through regular guest checkout. By the end of that guest checkout, they see that they can save their information with Fastlane by PayPal.”

Keller spoke with theCUBE Research analysts Rebecca Knight and Shelly Kramer at the commercetools Elevate event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the dynamics of trust, transparency and innovation in the e-commerce landscape. (* Disclosure below.)

The commercetools/PayPal e-commerce alliance in detail

Earlier at the event, commercetools GmbH announced a deepened partnership with PayPal, integrating into the Fastlane networks for one-click guest checkouts. The reasoning behind this lies in negating the need for cumbersome information collection and placing value first, subsequently reducing the risk of cart abandonment and user impatience.

Additionally,  Fastlane leverages PayPal’s trusted brand to instill confidence in users, assuring the safe storage of critical financial information. The partnership with commercetools underscores a shared commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions, offering merchants a seamless integration path to enhance their checkout processes, according to Keller.

“We’re one of the most trusted brands where people believe that they can store that information safely with us, their most critical financial information,” he said. “We’re not sharing that information otherwise. So, when they see that it’s … by PayPal, they still trust us with data and so people opt into this seamless experience. That’s what we’ve announced with commercetools to do that guest checkout.”
