Fortanix launches Key Insight for enhanced multicloud cryptographic visibility and compliance
Intel Corp.-backed multicloud security firm Fortanix Inc. today announced the general availability of Key Insight, a capability that enables enterprises to discover, assess and remediate risk and compliance gaps across hybrid multicloud environments.
First announced in limited release in November, Key Insight was designed to help organizations proactively manage data exposure risks where they lack visibility and control into their cryptographic posture. The service delivers visibility into keys across multicloud environments and enables organizations to identify risks and future-proof data security against the looming threat of the post-quantum computing era.
Fortanix Key Insight automatically reveals any data that has been encrypted, the type of encryption keys and which workloads use them in Amazon Web Services Inc. and Microsoft Azure cloud environments. The platform’s interface makes it simple to assess how an organization’s cryptographic posture aligns with its policies and prioritizes remediation steps.
Data-driven heatmaps quickly pinpoint risks, gaps and priorities against established policies, regulations and industry standards and the service can implement corrective actions at scale to improve cryptographic security.
In addition, the service also helps organizations prepare for the post-quantum era with automated discovery that creates a complete inventory of all cryptographic keys. Key Insight then offers an assessment to help prioritize encryption keys and data services that need to transition to quantum-resistant algorithms.
Using the insight provided by the service, organizations can leverage the Fortanix platform for a smooth migration to the oncoming NIST-standardized algorithms. The National Institute of Standards and Technology standardized algorithms are algorithms that are part of NIST’s Post-Quantum Cryptography project.
“Encryption is the most effective measure of data security, but security teams all too often lack visibility into what is and isn’t being protected and whether data security best practices are being followed,” Anuj Jaiswal, vice president of product at Fortanix, said ahead of the announcement. “Key Insight is a huge step forward for the industry because it helps organizations completely and accurately discover and assess their cryptographic security posture and remediate issues with the crypto-agility capabilities of the Fortanix platform.”
