Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. is at the forefront of helping organizations leverage HPE AI solutions to maximize the potential of AI and cloud technologies.

Companies such as Peraton Inc. emphasize the importance of utilizing confidential, private and regulated data sources to power AI applications. This approach results in a hybrid model of public and private AI, essential for addressing data sovereignty, security and performance needs. There is a shift towards productivity-focused use cases in generative AI, underscoring the necessity of integrating comprehensive AI solutions for modern enterprises to effectively navigate the complexities of cloud and AI technologies, according to according to Jordan Nanos (pictured, left), machine learning architect at HPE.

“Over time we’ve seen an evolution in terms of what data people are using to power their AI applications, and I think generative AI is just an evolution of things that we’ve already been seeing,” Nanos said. “When I started working on AI we were focused on things like recommendation systems, computer vision and now people want to do things like chat with their data. They want productivity-focused use cases in language, and that’s where generative AI really comes in.”

They discussed the implementation and impact of AI in various sectors, particularly emphasizing the need for private and hybrid AI solutions due to concerns such as data sovereignty, security and the performance requirements of different use cases. Why HPE AI solutions are crucial for modern enterprises

Companies, such as HPE, are setting a new standard for AI with GreenLake by focusing on private cloud. These companies are integrating AI into what they offer to provide comprehensive solutions, according to Shabon.

“I don’t think you can separate the infrastructure from AI. You need the data, you need the infrastructure, you need the GPUs. All of those come in and combine,” he said. “What we are looking [for] from HPE is a comprehensive solution starting with the cloud, whether it’s hybrid, private with the data and then taking that to a dedicated environment, to achieve that environment to a local or to a more restricted data.”

In 2024, enterprises will see impactful releases of open-source models requiring accessible GPUs and accelerated compute for inference. These models will be crucial in areas such as AV cars, fraud prevention and cybersecurity, Nanos argued.

“I think this year is really the year of inference in the enterprise, which means that we’ve seen really impactful releases of public free open source models that many organizations can download and use for their business applications,” he said. “That means that there’s now a requirement for GPUs and accelerated compute to be all over the world where the data is being created.”

The combination of public and private AI is important, including HPE AI solutions, with a focus on locality and the need for a hybrid approach due to the complexity of cloud and AI. The future of AI involves taking time to reason and solve problems rather than providing instantaneous responses for instant gratification, Shabon concluded.

“You could use the public AI to get a lot of information, gather that information and then go to the private side of it where I’m focusing on data sovereignty,” he said. “I cannot handle data sovereignty in public data, so we’re locale or data gravity when I’m going to private and I want to have that local data for me. I think there’s definitely a big play for hybrid.”
