SailPoint expands identity security platform with new cloud features, AI and automation
Identity security company SailPont Technologies Inc. today announced a series of new products and capabilities designed to enhance enterprise security and governance.
The releases include new features for its Identity Security Cloud, a dedicated Machine Identity Security product and a Privileged Task Automation solution. Together, the announcements are part of SailPoint’s aim to help enterprises manage identity security in a more comprehensive, automated manner.
Also announced today at SailPoint’s Navigate user conference was the company’s agentic AI tool, designed to provide users with an intelligent assistant for answering questions about identity governance and security. The tool enables a conversation-based interface that simplifies user interactions and allows enterprises to manage identity solutions more efficiently.
At the top of the list, SailPoint announced updates to the Identity Security Cloud, including enhanced automation and contextual insights that improve the security of enterprise systems. The updates introduce dynamic access roles that reduce role sprawl by adding contextual attributes for a more streamlined, user-centric access model, along with access model metadata, which provides richer business context for more informed security decisions.
A new data segmentation feature allows organizations to apply granular controls for identity and access management across different business units to ensure compliance with privacy regulations while maintaining security. The segmentation features help reduce the risks of data mismanagement and provide layers of security tailored to specific administrative needs.
SailPoint has also enhanced application onboarding in its Identity Security Cloud by leveraging artificial intelligence-powered automation to simplify the discovery and management of applications.
Rounding out the Identity Security Cloud updates, SailPoint has also introduced SailPoint Identity Risk. Designed to enhance visibility into user behavior and provide proactive security responses, the new capability helps organizations anticipate and mitigate threats before they can cause significant harm.
Machine Identity Security
SailPoint is also introducing Machine Identity Security, a new product designed to simplify the management and security of machine identities, such as service accounts and bots. The product, built on the SailPoint Atlas platform, unifies identity security for both human and machine identities, allowing enterprises to manage all identities more efficiently under one system.
Machine Identity Security has been designed to tackle the growing number of machine identities outpacing human identities and the challenges organizations face in managing them effectively. The service automates the discovery, classification and governance of machine accounts and, in doing so, reduces the risks posed by orphaned or unmanaged identities.
The solution also integrates automation and real-time visibility to allow enterprises to manage machine identities with the same level of control as human identities. The net result is a reduction in the need for manual intervention and the mitigation of security gaps to allow organizations to maintain a strong security posture as machine identities continue to grow in importance.
Privileged Task Automation
The third main announcement from SailPoint today, Privileged Task Automation, is a new capability designed to automate and delegate the execution of routine tasks requiring privileged access. The solution provides a drag-and-drop interface and customizable templates to streamline task execution to improve productivity and security for enterprises.
Using Privileged Task Automation, organizations can reduce inefficiencies and minimize security risks that SailPoint argues are often associated with manual processes. The service integrates with credential vaults to ensure that sensitive credentials remain protected while still allowing tasks to be completed without exposing them to users.
Privileged Task Automation complements existing Privileged Access Management technologies by allowing organizations to assign specific tasks without requiring full privileged session management. As a result, enterprises can accelerate task execution while maintaining security.
