The impact of low-code systems on intelligent automation: Insights from Persistent Systems and OutSystems

The rise of low-code platforms is reshaping the digital landscape, offering businesses a revolutionary way to develop software. Low-code platforms and intelligent automation help businesses handle “heavy lifting” by optimizing software development, making it more efficient and accessible to a broader range of users, according to Derek Downs (pictured, left), head of channels and alliances at OutSystems.

Derek Downs, head of channels and alliances at OutSystems explains intelligent automation to theCUBE at UiPath FORWARD 2024.

OutSystems’ Derek Downs talks to theCUBE about Intelligent automation.

“Generative AI lets you do it quickly,” Downs said. “You heard it from the main stage today, being able to move from just the bots to the agents, how do you have that intelligent driving? And then low-code really becomes a controlled structure to have that governance in place.”

Downs and Vivek Valecha (right), associate vice president of intelligent automation at Persistent Systems Ltd., spoke with theCUBE Research analyst Dave Vellante and host Rebecca Knight at UiPath Forward 2024, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how the low-code revolution, driven by platforms such as OutSystems and Persistent and supported by automation leaders such as UiPath, is transforming industries. (* Disclosure below.)

Intelligent automation: The rise of low-code integration

Intelligent automation has evolved from simple robotic process automation into a more sophisticated system capable of handling complex tasks. Persistent’s approach goes beyond just automation. By integrating low-code tools such as OutSystems with intelligent automation solutions such as UiPath, the company can deliver hyper-automation solutions that address customers’ real-world challenges, according to Valecha.

“We want to take a step back, see the actual issue that the customer is facing, what technology can address it and bring these technologies that are now residing in silos altogether, stitch them all back,” he said. “We are able to provide an end-to-end hyper-automation solution for our customers. It’s more beneficial, brings you more ROI and it’s much better in terms of the long run because we’re able to design better solutions for them.”

The partnership between Persistent and OutSystems has led to significant advancements across various industries, including healthcare and financial services. the company’s digital front office solution modernizes the patient experience by providing a unified system that integrates backend processes, Valecha added.
