Driving operational excellence: Reckitt’s journey with process intelligence
As organizations grow increasingly dependent on data-driven insights to drive efficiencies, harnessing vast streams of information through process intelligence has become essential for maintaining a competitive edge.
This approach requires not just advanced technology, but a nuanced understanding of the role data plays in shaping operations, informing strategy and, ultimately, achieving success.
“We’ve been able to drive network and capital improvements a lot,” said Kuldeep Dudeja (pictured), IT and digital director of intelligent automation and process mining at Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC. “That has been our great success story at Reckitt.”
Dudeja spoke with theCUBE Research’s Rob Strechay and Savannah Peterson at Celosphere 24, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed essential strategies and challenges in implementing Celonis’ process intelligence across various business functions. (* Disclosure below.)
Leveraging process intelligence for operational efficiency and strategic decision-making
Reckitt’s partnership with Celonis began with a focus on enhancing visibility into finance and compliance processes. Recognizing the tool’s value, the company expanded its application across the organization.
“Today, we use Celonis, you name it, whether it is procurement, finance, order to cash, supply chain, sustainability, internal controls, external controls,” Dudeja stated. “You just want it to be everywhere.”
This expansion has significantly impacted Reckitt’s operational goals, improving product delivery, reducing emissions and enhancing customer satisfaction.
“We were able to even drive our cost to serve, which is helping us to drive our P&L benefits on the books,” Dudeja said. “On the ROI side … we already announced that we are in triple digits of a million benefits realized.”
However, the effectiveness of technology is rooted in the stories and processes behind it.
“Technology is different, yes, but really stories go behind it. Eighty percent of the effort goes in change management,” Dudeja explained.
Moreover, for advanced data-driven technologies to yield their full potential, having proper process intelligence is essential for Reckitt. This underscores the interconnectedness of technology and processes, reinforcing that successful implementation requires a holistic approach.
“AI is not as effective if there is no PI,” Reckitt said. “There is no AI without PI; it has been a mantra.”
