Gretchen O’Hara, vice president of worldwide partners and alliances at Splunk, talks to #theCUBE about enhancing digital resilience at Microsoft Ignite EMERGING TECH

Harnessing the power of cloud and AI to drive digital resilience

In today’s era of rapid technological evolution, organizations are navigating the complexities of balancing on-premises and cloud-based solutions. This shift is driven by the need to enhance digital resilience, optimize costs and strengthen security frameworks.

Leaders are focused on creating seamless hybrid environments to integrate enterprise data and enable smarter decision-making.

“The reality here is that all of our customers are really looking at ‘How do I build digital resilience and improve my security posture and [have] a holistic view across IT ops [and] security?’” said Gretchen O’Hara (pictured), vice president of worldwide partners and alliances at Splunk LLC.

O’Hara spoke with theCUBE Research’s Bob Laliberte at Microsoft Ignite 2024, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They explored hybrid cloud complexities and the challenges of managing data as central themes shaping the future of enterprise IT.

Building smarter systems with cloud-based insights to drive digital resilience

Organizations are increasingly leveraging cloud-native platforms to unify security operations and enhance visibility across disparate environments. By integrating enterprise data with AI, they aim to overcome hybrid cloud complexities and support faster decision-making. Highlighting this shift, Splunk recently announced the availability of running software-as-a-service offerings natively on Azure.

“There’s been so much customer demand and so much partner opportunity around this … [These offerings] allow customers to integrate enterprise data and really power that digital resilience, being able to conquer hybrid cloud complexity,” O’Hara said. “With Splunk’s AI agility … [it] puts the opportunity for really smart decision-making in the hands of those leaders to make really smart choices.”

The integrity of Splunk’s solutions with Azure enhances organizations’ ability to detect and mitigate threats more effectively. This partnership aims to deliver unmatched observability and ensure businesses can respond quickly to emerging challenges.

“Ultimately [it’s about] detecting threats earlier, detecting threats faster, making sure that you’re building out that digital resiliency for all of your data requirements,” O’Hara said. “These SaaS offerings, together on your investment of Azure Cloud, is going to be able to do that in a very sophisticated way. And AI then, through Microsoft and Splunk, … helps provide faster decision-making, reducing more costs and … still [keeping] humans in the loop, but putting those humans in the loop to [do] faster decision-making across the business.”

Splunk and Microsoft’s shared commitment to simplifying cloud migration and reducing costs has created an opportunity for customers to optimize their investments. This alignment aims to provide solutions tailored to address evolving enterprise needs.

“Splunk will actually help you reduce your cloud commitment spend. So, you’re kind of getting a two-for-one as you look at total cost of ownership, and … [expand into] cyber and holistic digital resilient strategies.” O’Hara said.
