The Decentralized Storage Alliance today welcomed six new members as the organization continues its mission to transform enterprise data storage with decentralized solutions.
Founded in 2022, the DSA is a professional organization dedicated to advancing decentralized storage solutions for enterprises. The alliance fosters innovation in secure, scalable and cost-effective data storage with the goal of giving businesses greater control over their data while driving the adoption of decentralized infrastructure.
The six new members joining the alliance today include the Decentralized AI Society DAO Ltd., Akave Technologies Inc., DeStor Protocol Foundation, Seal Storage Technology Inc., Curio Labs Inc. and Titan Network DAO LLC. The six new members join the DSA alongside its founding members Andvances Micro Devices Inc., Seagate Technology Holdings plc, Ernst & Young Global Ltd., Protocol Labs Inc. and Filecoin Foundation in the DSA’s mission to empower enterprises to leverage decentralized data storage and processing.
The DSA seeks to address the issue where, while the need for storage solutions has never been greater driven by the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning, centralized storage providers, which dominate the market, limit data efficiency and pricing. The alliance argues that decentralized storage offers more efficient, robust and secure services at a better value, creating a space where businesses – of any size – can thrive.
Additionally, the alliance also considers direct data control to be essential for a healthy AI-driven future, with a need for frameworks that enable new business models and monetization opportunities. The vision requires verifiable proof of ownership supported by reliable, persistent storage infrastructure that eliminates vulnerabilities inherent in centralized systems.
“As our AI-dominated future approaches, it is vital for our shared prosperity and wellbeing that no single storage provider has gatekeeping privileges over the data and computational capacity that will power it,” said Michael Casey, chairman of the Decentralized AI Society, one of the new members joining the DSA. “In forging ties to the mainstream corporate enterprises that are building that future, the Decentralized Storage Alliance is doing vital work.”
The DSA aims to build a robust ecosystem for decentralized data storage by assisting businesses in adopting networks such as Filecoin and other Web3 technologies. Filecoin’s decentralized infrastructure uses economic incentives to ensure reliable, long-term data storage at large scale, complemented by globally distributed nodes that minimize the risks tied to centralized control.
In the future, the DSA is looking to help enterprises address key challenges related to data integrity, sovereignty and vendor lock-in while offering secure and cost-effective alternatives to centralized storage. To achieve this, the alliance is working on developing specifications for service level agreements and access controls, building upon previous achievements since it was founded in 2022.
The alliance has released new reference architectures for the Filecoin network that improve data integrity and resiliency while reducing infrastructure costs. It has also advanced zero-knowledge proof processing, achieving an 80% reduction in proof generation costs and latency through processor optimizations.
“Decentralized storage offers immense benefits, including enhanced data security, lower costs and increased accessibility,” said Daniel Leon, founding advisor of the DSA. “The Decentralized AI Society and our other new members bring a wealth of knowledge that will help us push decentralized storage solutions forward and into new markets.”
