Gomboc.AI Inc., which provides deterministic artificial intelligence for cloud security, today announced that it has raised $13 million in seed funding to accelerate its mission to eliminate the security backlog that delays critical business transformation.
Founded in 2022 and a 2024 participant in Google LLC’s growth academy for cybersecurity startups, Gomboc offers a deterministic AI solution for cloud security remediations. Deterministic AI follows a fixed set of rules and logic to produce consistent, repeatable outcomes without randomness or variability. The technology differs from generative AI, which can create different results each time; instead, deterministic AI ensures precise, predictable and context-aware fixes based on predefined algorithms.
The idea behind Gomboc AI came from co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Ian Amit, who, while previously serving as a chief information security officer, faced the challenge of managing insurmountable tickets and extensive vulnerability reports often spanning hundreds of pages.
“I started asking: What if there was no backlog, no more tickets? What if the inefficiencies we’ve normalized didn’t have to exist? The security industry is drowning in alerts and no solution has fundamentally solved the root problem of remediating issues with minimal friction,” explained Amit.
Amit, alongside co-founder and Chief Product Officer Matthew Sweeney, decided the solution was to create a deterministic AI engine that does more than just flag cloud security misconfigurations and vulnerabilities, but also fixes them.
Gomboc AI’s unique approach uses a deterministic AI engine to ensure consistent, repeatable and contextual code-level fixes. The platform integrates with cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code to enable organizations to remediate misconfigurations while preserving functionality and agility.
Key features and benefits of the platform include precise, automated remediation that goes beyond simply identifying security issues. Instead of simply generating alerts, Gomboc AI provides accurate, repeatable and context-aware code-level fixes through infrastructure-as-code to ensure that security improvements do not disrupt system functionality.
Gomboc AI significantly reduces the overwhelming number of issues generated by cloud security posture management tools and security scanners by eliminating security backlogs. Rather than adding to the ticket queue, the platform proactively resolves vulnerabilities, allowing security and DevOps teams to focus on higher-priority tasks.
The service is all built on a policy-driven framework aligned with industry standards such as the National Institute of Standards Technology Cybersecurity Framework and those from the Center for Internet Security to ensure its remediations fit each organization’s unique environment. Unlike generative AI, which can produce unpredictable results, Gomboc AI’s deterministic AI approach ensures consistent, reliable fixes without relying on customer data for model training.
The seed round was led by Ballasitc Ventures, with previous early investors Glilot Capital Partners Ltd. and Hetz Ventures Ltd. also participating.
“Gomboc AI is solving a massive, universal problem that organizations face: transforming the overwhelming security-ticket backlog into an automated, policy-driven remediation process,” said Roger Thornton, co-founder and general partner of Ballistic Ventures. “This company is a game-changer for how security and DevSecOps teams can work together more efficiently and effectively.”
