Cybersecurity solutions and services provider Specter Ops Inc. today announced that it has raised $75 million in new funding to support the scaling of BloodHound Enterprise, a platform for comprehensively removing identity-based attack paths.
Founded in 2017, SpecterOps specializes in adversary-focused cybersecurity solutions, leveraging deep insights into advanced threat actor tradecraft to help organizations defend against sophisticated attacks.
SpecterOps offers a number of services, spanning security assessments, program development and adversary tactics training. The services are designed to evaluate and enhance clients’ security postures by simulating sophisticated attack scenarios and building robust defense mechanisms.
Along with assessments, SpecterOps assists organizations in developing comprehensive security programs. The company focuses on integrating technical components to ensure effective prevention, detection and response capabilities against cyberthreats.
The company is also known for its adversary tactics training courses, which equip security professionals with the skills to anticipate and counter advanced attack techniques. The training programs cover areas such as red team operations and identity-driven offensive tradecraft.
SpecterOps has developed widely used open-source tools, including BloodHound Community Edition, which maps Active Directory attack paths. Building on this, they offer BloodHound Enterprise, a solution that continuously identifies and mitigates attack paths within existing architectures.
BloodHound Enterprise was launched in 2021 to allow organizations to fortify their Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory/Entra ID platforms against identity attack paths. BHE has since experienced rapid customer adoption, with takeup increasing 100% year-over-year in 2024 to nearly 200 customers in total.
“Identity-based threats are growing often due to the growing complexity of enterprise identity architectures and enterprises need a proactive, dynamic approach to stay ahead,” said Chief Executive David McGuire. “Our Attack Path Management methodology helps organizations manage identity risk by treating the identity ecosystem as a living, interconnected graph, continuously detecting and addressing attack paths.”
Insight Partners LP led the Series B round, which included participation from Ansa Capital, M12, Ballistic Ventures LP, Decibel LP and Cisco Investments Inc. SpecterOps had previously raised a Series A round of $25 million in April 2023.
