AI Agent Builder Summit preview: Preparing business for the era of intelligent digital coworkers

Deloitte will showcase its innovative approaches and thought leadership during theCUBE Research’s AI Agent Builder Summit on April 16, highlighting key insights into developing and deploying agentic AI solutions.

As businesses grapple with the complexities of growing and scaling operations, AI-driven digital workers are rapidly becoming integral to strategies aimed at achieving significant cost reductions and higher-value outcomes. Organizations today seek technologies that enable smarter work processes without the traditional scaling costs associated with hiring additional human staff.

The current excitement around AI agents, referred to by Deloitte as digital workers, lies in their ability to deliver profound productivity gains, according to Abdi Goodarzi (pictured, right), head of gen AI products, innovations and new businesses at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd.

“The demand is really to get a lot more value and also drive the cost of work at the enterprise and take the intelligence level of the work and the way the work is executed to a whole new level,” he said.

I spoke with Goodarzi prior to the AI Agent Builder Summit about how agentic AI, or digital workers, are reshaping enterprise productivity through smarter, scalable automation. (* Disclosure below.)

Agentic AI: Digital workers transform enterprise productivity

Agentic AI sets itself apart from traditional generative AI assistants through its deeper contextual understanding of business processes, allowing these digital workers to manage complex tasks autonomously, according to Goodarzi.

“AI agents are expected to be significantly more knowledgeable and intelligent regarding the work context,” he said. “This means that if you ask an AI agent to execute a transaction for you, they possess a conceptual understanding of what that transaction entails and the business process you are aiming to carry out.”

Furthermore, organizations looking to integrate agentic AI into their existing infrastructures must address foundational elements such as data quality and system readiness. Goodarzi emphasized the critical importance of these components:

“AI can only be powered and become intelligent through the use of that data, depending on the quality of that data,” he said. “Therefore, data itself presents another challenge.”

This perspective emphasizes the importance of building strong data infrastructures and guaranteeing that record systems are dependable and precise.

Goodarzi further advised organizations to pursue agentic AI solutions that integrate seamlessly into current infrastructures, avoiding overly complex, disruptive implementations:

“If it is something that can be plug and play and quickly give you value, even if it is a small value that you can scale and get bigger value out of it, that should be the methodology and approach in creating agents,” he recommended.

Organizations are encouraged to act swiftly to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving landscape of agentic AI.

“Technology is moving really, really fast. Enterprises are trying to catch up, and the moment the trigger happens and this value realization becomes real and tangible … the pace is going to skyrocket and demand for agents are going to be ridiculously high,” Goodarzi added.
