Cloud security startup Sentra Inc. announced today that it has raised $50 million in new funding to expand its platform and fortify its position in the digital security platform space.
Founded in 2021, Sentra offers cloud-native data security for the artificial intelligence era, with a mission to empower organizations to securely leverage data in new ways. The company seeks to set a gold standard in data security through efficient scanning, accurate classification, robust data privacy and streamlined regulatory compliance.
Sentra’s core data security posture management service continuously evaluates an organization’s data landscape to identify vulnerabilities such as misconfigurations, overpermissioned access and unauthorized data movements. The platform assesses the risks to help organizations prioritize remediation efforts and maintain a robust security posture.
The company also offers data detection and response that monitors data activities in real time to detect potential breaches, data exfiltration and other malicious behaviors, allowing security teams to respond swiftly to incidents, minimize potential damage and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Sentra additionally covers data access governance, ensuring that only authorized users have access to sensitive data. The platform does so by implementing least-privilege access controls and continuously auditing permissions to allow organizations to reduce the risk of insider threats and accidental data exposure.
The Series B funding round was led by Key1 Capital, with existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners LP, Zeev Ventures, Munich Re Ventures and Standard Investments Inc. also participating.
The new funding will also be used to support the expansion of Sentra’s data security capabilities for artificial intelligence, designed to help enterprises secure sensitive data and reduce data leakage and compliance risks across their AI initiatives. Sentra’s solution builds on its DSPM heritage to address the emerging challenges associated with the proliferation of AI assistants and the adoption of generative AI, empowering large enterprises to embrace AI innovation securely and responsibly.
“Every organization we work with is racing to leverage AI but is equally as concerned about exposing sensitive data,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Yoav Regev. “Sentra gives them the reassurance and confidence they need to move fast by securing data at every stage. With this new funding, we’re doubling down on helping enterprises adopt AI confidently so they can innovate without compromising trust.”
The new funding takes the total amount raised by Sentra to more than $100 million. The company’s previous funding rounds include $30 million raised in January 2023.
