As part of several announcements made by Google LLC this week during the RSAC 2025 Conference, the search giant launched SecOps Labs, a new space that provides customers with the firm’s latest AI pilots. SecOps Labs will be part of a collaboration with HCL Technologies Ltd., an approach that fits with Google’s desire to offer customers previews of its security offerings for Google Cloud.
“The idea around this is kind of an early release view to customers who want to opt in to this to take advantage of the new features, new functionality that we have with the platform,” said Josh Karp (pictured, left), global security lead of GSIs at Google. “About 75% of Google Labs is going to be fueled by partners like HCL. Let’s figure out together where the product needs to go, where Google Security needs to go. That’s exactly what we’re looking for.”
Karp spoke with theCUBE’s Dave Vellante at the RSAC 2025 Conference, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. He was joined by Prashant Mascarenhas (right), senior vice president and global business head – cybersecurity and GRC services at HCL Technologies, and they discussed key elements of the partnership and its ability to generate new AI-based services such as SecOps Labs. In April, HCL Tech and Google Cloud jointly launched a suite of agentic AI solutions designed to help enterprises rapidly adapt to market changes and customer demands. Workflow-specific agents can be tasked with reducing manual intervention and enhancing decision-making, which are important factors in the security arena.
Google’s Josh Karp and HCL Tech’s Prashant Mascarenhas, talk with theCUBE about SecOps Labs.
“A lot of our generative AI work today, especially as we start looking at agentic solutions, is essentially building on the operational maturity that we have, the automation that we’ve built together [and] the knowledge base that we’ve built together,” Mascarenhas said. “Jointly designing agentic solutions is the way we are looking at things going forward.”
Google’s partnership with HCL Tech has been fueled by the readily available amount of data at the search giant’s disposal. This has led Google to develop new products and services that follow a deliberate strategy, according to Karp.
“AI is all about the data the model is trained on,” Karp said. “Who sees more data than Google? We’re almost at an unfair advantage when it comes to that. Because of that, we’re also not jumping on the bandwagon to just get features out as quickly as possible. We do really extensive, long testing … in the end, I think that turns out to be beneficial to everyone.”
