When it comes to providing comprehensive visibility and protection across cloud environments without installing software agents on every workload, agentless cloud security is an ideal remedy.
Paired with Wiz Inc.’s Security Graph, this approach enhances cloud cybersecurity by combining contextual insight with advanced threat detection and analysis, according to Oron Noah (pictured, right), vice president of product, extensibility and partnerships at Wiz.
Wiz’s Oron Noah and Google Cloud’s Anton Chuvakin talk to theCUBE about the need for agentless cloud security.
“The approach was, first of all, how you can use an agentless approach, connect to different cloud environments within minutes, deployed within minutes through the agentless solution, and then have a visibility to all the running technologies you have, whether it’s like [virtual machine], serverless, Kubernetes [or] buckets,” Noah said. “On top of that, we basically want to correlate everything into one Security Graph and tell you what are the most critical attack paths that exist in your environment. That’s how we manage to simplify cloud security.”
Noah and Anton Chuvakin (left), senior security staff at the Office of the CISO at Google Cloud, spoke with theCUBE’s Dave Vellante at the RSAC 2025 Conference, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed why agentless cloud security is gaining steam. (* Disclosure below.)
Because agentless solutions integrate directly with cloud service providers, the partnership between Wiz and Google Cloud is designed to expand access to cloud security. Democratizing that access requires collaboration and shared responsibility, according to Noah.
“Wiz, founded like five years ago, it’s all about cloud security,” he said. “We started by having a multi-cloud strategy, because customers today want to protect. They’re using AWS, Azure, [Google Cloud Platform], and they want to have visibility to everything that runs in their cloud. We believe that the security needs to switch from a vertical point of view to a horizontal point of view. If you democratize cloud security, everyone has access, everyone can collaborate on a single platform.”
In agentless cloud security, the combination of runtime detection, code security and posture management is crucial because it offers comprehensive protection across the full cloud lifecycle. That layered approach is what led Wiz to join hands with Google Cloud, according to Chuvakin.
“Think … two main pillars,” he said. “One is that if you expand from posture, posture assessment, you expand in two directions: You expand left to code and you expand right to runtime. The second pillar is if you would only have one cloud and environment, you can potentially push your cloud provider to build three things. You do need to be an expert in posture, runtime detection, code and three cloud providers. That’s a rare skill set that has real magic.”
The platform approach in cybersecurity is increasingly recognized as essential for effective, scalable and adaptive security in today’s complex digital environments. Wiz’s Integration, or the WIN platform, strengthens cloud security posture by offering a unified ecosystem of automated, streamlined integrations, according to Noah.
“Wiz is an open security platform,” he said. “The product today can integrate with more than 150 different integrations. We have basically a platform that we call WIN; it stands for Wiz Integration Network. We integrate with many other products. Some of them are complementary to Wiz. I’ll give you an example, like [the] data lakes of the world. The goal is as an open security platform.”
