Observability platform company Coralogix Ltd. today announced the launch of “Continuous Profiling,” a new capability that delivers real-time visibility into application performance without any code changes or production impact.
The new capability seeks to address the limitations of traditional code profiling tools, which often introduce performance overhead and require intrusive changes to application code. Coralogix argues that traditional profiling solutions rely on periodic snapshots that miss critical trends and consume excessive resources, making them unsuitable for continuous use in production environments.
By contrast, Coralogix’s Continuous Profiling uses lightweight eBPF probes and OpenTelemetry standards to provide always-on, low-impact visibility into application behavior in production environments. Coralogix says that delivers results with less than 1% overhead.
The capability uses lightweight in-kernel probes to capture high-frequency stack traces, CPU cycles, memory allocations, I/O wait times and thread states, all ingested by Coralogix’s OpenTelemetry-compatible collector. The platform then renders the data as interactive flame graphs and time-series charts on the Coralogix platform.
The new feature offers rapid deployment, allowing teams to get started within minutes without modifying their application code. Developers can quickly identify slow or inefficient function calls within production environments, enabling immediate code-level optimizations that improve overall application performance.
In addition to performance gains, the tool helps reduce infrastructure costs by detecting and mitigating resource-heavy processes. It also enhances troubleshooting by correlating stack traces with existing logs and metrics, significantly shortening the time required to diagnose and resolve incidents.
“Traditional profiling solutions may provide useful insights, but their invasive and resource-intensive nature often degrades performance,” said Chief Executive Ariel Assaraf. “With Coralogix Continuous Profiling, we’re giving teams an unprecedented lens into production code paths — automatically and without compromise.”
Later this year, Coralogix also plans to broaden support with Continuous Profiling to include off-CPU profiling (blocked and scheduling delays), GPU utilization metrics, detailed memory-allocation insights and fine-grained I/O profiling to offer end-to-end visibility across every performance dimension.
Coralogix is a venture capital-backed startup that has raised $238 million, including a $142 million round in June 2022. Investors in the company include Advent International Corp., Brighton Park Capital Management LP, Revaia SAS, Red Dot Capital Partners Ltd., StageOne Ventures LP, Joule Ventures Ltd., Maor Investments Ltd. and O.G. Venture Partners.
