Artificial intelligence startup Writer Inc. today announced that it became one of the first artificial intelligence model developers to complete the full ISO “trust triad.”

Specifically, it has achieved certifications for security, privacy and responsible AI under the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission’s 27001, 27701 and 42001 standards. Writer said the achievement signals a commitment to building agentic AI systems and enterprise-grade large language models that are reliable, controllable and transparent.

The ISO/IEC standards provide widely recognized benchmarks for quality in technology, each addressing specific aspects of secure and responsible AI.

ISO/IEC 42001 highlights Writer’s dedication to the responsible development and use of AI systems. That includes ensuring safe, auditable agent operations through features like observability tools, configurable session logs, role-based permissions and metrics tracking. Governance controls such as agent-tool protocols and approval workflows further enhance system reliability.

Additionally, ISO/IEC 42001 emphasizes transparency in agent reasoning and output accuracy. Writer said it offers highly accurate, reliable models, with technical reports providing performance transparency and validation for real-world use cases.

The company added that the ISO/IEC 27701 certification showcases its adherence to strict information privacy standards. It pledges not to train on or improve its models using customer data and it ensures customer data is retained only as long as needed to provide services. The commitment extends to compliance with privacy laws such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act and the Payment Card Industry standard.

The last certified standard, ISO/IEC 27001, recognizes Writer’s end-to-end, managed platform deployment and AI lifecycle management. Writer’s approach ensures secure, scalable operations for its enterprise customers from cloud deployment supporting GPU scaling and orchestration to 24/7 monitoring, threat detection, penetration testing and vulnerability management.

Writer is a venture capital-backed startup that has raised $344 million in nine rounds, including a round of $200 million in November.
