ZeroRISC raises $10M to expand open-source silicon security platform

Silicon supply chain integrity solutions startup ZeroRISC Inc. announced today that it has raised $10 million in new funding to advance its commercialization of open-source silicon security solutions and expand its Integrity Management Platform across the silicon supply chain.

Founded in 2023 by Dominic Rizzo, the founder of the OpenTitan project, ZeroRISC offers a full-stack security solution that begins at the silicon level. The company’s core offering is a commercial-grade chip based on the OpenTitan root of trust, the first transparent and open-source secure silicon component that verifies device boot integrity and thwarts unauthorized code from running.

The hardware foundation enables immutable, verifiable trust, which is increasingly important amid rising regulatory scrutiny and cybersecurity insurance demands.

ZeroRISC also offers the Integrity Management Platform, a platform that delivers a unified solution combining silicon hardware, embedded software and cloud-based management tools. Living below the operating system, the Rust-based embedded OS enforces strict isolation, security policies and secure ownership transfer, giving device owners software control of security rules rather than depending on manufacturers or physical custody.

IMP tracks device integrity throughout the supply chain and in-field lifecycle, enabling real-time attestation and transparent policy management at scale. The offer supports integration into system-on-chips, chiplets and devices and supports numerous applications.

The company recently added integrated post-quantum cryptography into its platform, implementing the SPHINCS+ algorithm for firmware signing to ensure future-proof security in a post-quantum world.

The $10 million seed round was led by Fontinalis Partners. Also participating were Fundomo, Analog Devices Inc. co-founder Ray Stata, SemiAnalysis founder Dylan Patel, SBXi, Chelpis Ventures, Bond Street Capital and existing angel investors.

“ZeroRISC is executing on a classic Silicon Valley playbook — the founder of an open-source project launches a startup to bring the technology to a broader universe of enterprise customers,” said Fontinalis Partner Gabe Cunningham. “Commercial open silicon can enable a new generation of secure by default devices.”
