The Nutanix Cloud Platform combines the agility of public cloud and the control of on-premises solutions to deliver a robust hybrid cloud solution tailored to meet enterprise needs.
The platform brings cloud-like simplicity and flexibility to enterprise data centers, enhancing IT efficiency, resilience and future-readiness. It also streamlines operations, reduces costs and accelerates innovation, according to Thomas Cornely (pictured), senior vice president of product management at Nutanix Inc.
Nutanix’s Thomas Cornely talks with theCUBE about how the Nutanix Cloud Platform simplifies complex IT environments.
“The core picture is what we call the Nutanix Cloud Platform,” Cornely said. “It’s a combination of cloud infrastructure. It gives you your virtual storage, compute, networking and security all in one stack, and cloud management, operations, self-service [and] governance. That’s kind of the core of the business, and that’s what customers are modernizing towards.”
Cornely spoke with theCUBE’s John Furrier and Bob Laliberte at Nutanix .NEXT, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how the Nutanix Cloud Platform simplifies and modernizes IT operations. (* Disclosure below.)
The Nutanix Cloud Platform simplifies operations in highly distributed environments by centralizing management across disparate IT systems. That simplification comes from consolidating infrastructure, enabling unified control and automating routine tasks, according to Cornely.
“For customers that are moving to Nutanix, we’re investing in making it easier for them to migrate from what they currently have, or leverage what they already have,” he said. “This year, the big news is Pure Storage [Inc.] now being supported with the Nutanix Cloud Platform. Even though as we add external storage support to our platform, the way you do things doesn’t change, and that’s a key differentiator for us. We have a new solution called the zero-touch framework, which automates deployment, but also enforces configurations over time on thousands of clusters, while giving visibility.”
By combining the flexibility of Kubernetes with enterprise-grade simplicity, security and scalability, the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform is an ideal solution for organizations modernizing their IT infrastructure for cloud-native operations, according to Cornely. It effectively bridges the gap between traditional infrastructure and modern cloud-native application requirements while eliminating the operational complexity typically associated with Kubernetes.
“We now have what we refer to as the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform,” Cornely said. “Something that we basically acquired based on the acquisition of D2iQ a couple years back, doing fantastic in the market right now … that core for us is always data-centric solutions.”
Hyperconverged infrastructure is a key product differentiator for Nutanix because it uniquely simplifies and modernizes enterprise IT by integrating compute, storage, networking and virtualization into a single, software-defined platform. This strategy enables organizations to scale out easily, according to Cornely.
“When people think about HCI, they think of AI-converged things and they’re thinking of the box, but actually that’s not the differentiation of HCI,” he said. “The real differentiation is how you actually manage the environment. The fact that you have automation built in throughout to take care of the tedious stuff. At the end of the day, what you care about is your application. Deploy applications, protect applications [and] move applications. Whether they are [virtual machines] or container-based applications, and that’s how we differentiate.”
