Boomi’s AI agent surge sparks push toward standardized integration

AI-driven integration was a key topic of discussion during Boomi World, as the company and its partners focused on making automation and data management more scalable. Boomi LP customers now have 33,000 AI agents in deployment, which is raising the level of interest in standardized interfaces for the artificial intelligence arena.

One such interface is Model Context Protocol, a standardized open-source tool for integrating large language models with external data. Boomi announced support for MCP during the conference in Dallas, which caught the attention of one of its partners.

“I like Boomi’s vision of how to take the basic core integration and evolve with the industry and then apply it to the AI era,” said Ram Sankararaman (pictured, left), practice engagement manager at Infosys. “They talked about MCP server. I would say that’s the middleware for AI. How can I bring in all the tools [and] resources together? I think Boomi will play a major role.”

Sankararaman spoke with theCUBE’s Savannah Peterson at Boomi World, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. He was joined by Nitin Kadam (center), manager of enterprise applications at PowerSecure Inc., and Taline Arslanyan (right), director of channel sales at Boomi, and they discussed the growing role of agents and the importance of a solid data strategy. AI-driven integration for business value

For PowerSecure, Boomi helps identify how various AI tools can deliver tangible business results throughout the company. Chatbots and AI agents may contribute to task performance, but the business value must be clear, according to Kadam.

“What we are trying to do is first figure out the strategic alignment with our projects and initiators,” Kadam said. “There has to be that alignment with the roadmap. What can we do incrementally to start showing business value now? That is key today … we cannot build a chatbot in isolation that is not integrated across the organization.”

While AI-driven integration has become more essential for the modern enterprise, it is part of a broader strategy within Boomi. The company is focused on providing measures of control and visibility through enhancements to Agentstudio for streamlining business processes and providing a new integration advisor, according to Arslanyan.

“We’re expanding the platform beyond integration,” Arslanyan said. “We’re thinking about data management, then we’re thinking about AI and how we can enable our customers to really ensure that they have a good data strategy, that their data is not living in siloed systems. That’s really what’s going to set them up for success long-term.”

Boomi’s announcements highlighted the demands placed on organizations to leverage agentic AI for accomplishing tasks. The expectation among enterprise users is that AI will make a significant impact in improving the cumbersome nature of routine work, according to Kadam.

“I hear from my customers … about how cumbersome some of these tasks are in the day-to-day,” Kadam said. “Tasks in today’s world do not need to be cumbersome. Life has greatly become more efficient because of how we can leverage Boomi. While we have these disparate applications, these chatbots, their life has improved, they’re seeing efficiency in the day-to-day. That’s what I’m hoping I can come back and say next year.”
